If you’d have told me in midweek that Flitcroft would be gone, Vale would beat Burton and Loft would score the winner … I’d have said you are very positive and I hope that optimism turns into reality, please leave your contact details so I can comment on the accuracy of your prophecy should it occur.

If we can get through those 3 away games without major issue - maybe 4 points, I fancy the fight back.
We’ll see, but well done to all involved today.
Bristol Rovers was a big game last season…. And to be fair the season before that!

I suspect Uche and Dipepa will make the bench next weekend. Having 4 forwards available will make a difference.
Something been said about Uche?

Why did Loft not tell the fans he was on strike until Flitcroft left?
He could’ve saved himself a lot of grief.

Loft gets the nod. Guess the formation.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but if we are to stick with a head of recruitment what about trying to bring Foyle in for that role,he has been spoken highly of in that role at previous clubs??
Just like a manager needs his own coaches, a DOF needs his own personnel. Wipe the slate and start again; there are people there complicit in signing the squad we have today and worsening it in January.

Does this put pressure on Moore now?
No but it gives him an easy out if we go down and he wants to leave: I was brought in because I believed in DF’s vision and planning, and now it’s a different state of affairs etc.

Yak and Lopata not rated or carrying knocks? For me they’d be in there in some capacity for every game. Yak has mistakes in him but I think he’s one who thrives on consistency. Debrah Smith Lopata Yak as a flat, solid, tall defence. Forget going forward just stay in position. I’d rather Jesse at RB over Smith as he is deceptively quick, but like I say not bombing up and down. Can’t change the shape and personnel of the defence every game and expect clean sheets, though my worry is DM is adhering to that principle as much as he can - just with the wrong players!

When’s the follow up / full explanation going to be shared?

Right decision and will benefit Port Vale in the long run if not the short run to the end of this season.
My view on Carol is that I try to judge people on intentions over execution.
Her intentions are absolutely to do the best she can for Port Vale. That gets her a significant amount of leeway in my eyes.
The execution hasn’t been perfect and it’s clear as a person she is very loyal and tends to hold on to people for too long when it’s clear they should go.
Its not the worst fault in the world, I can name many MANY worse by just looking at previous owners.
Absolutely. Saving, balancing and developing a football club is a mammoth, ongoing task. 2 steps forward 1 step back and constant problems at all clubs at all levels. She’s an incredibly generous and devoted owner. No doubt Flitcroft did some decent things but this calendar year has been totally unacceptable and have exposed fundamental issues that needed to be addressed. No doubt he would have carried on if passionate fans had not spoken up or been gaslighted into accepting the normal at the club. Just get a decent director of football now Carol.

Please Carol don’t put your foot in it by directly or indirectly blaming fan pressure. It’s not the people who point out the faults who are at fault.

The government has announced its plan for an Independent Football Regulator (IFR) for the professional men's game.
Which will include:
• An obligation to consult fans on "key off-field decisions" will also be a requirement of the licence. This could include decisions on club heritage and strategic direction.
^ Maybe fan's concerns will be actioned when this comes into play, rather than being fobbed off with 'listening'.

The route to 50 points starts here.
We need to start strongly in this last stretch with a minimum of 4 points against Burton, that will set us up for at least another 4 points from Brizzle, getting us in touching distance. Then three away games, we can discount. But never fear, a stomping 5 points against Exeter will see us storming back, before getting rolled by Wycombe and smashed by Bolton. This will set up a simple 4 points to collect on the final day. If we end up losing to any of the first lot, we may need 8 - 10 points on the last day but I back the lads to get the job done.

Flitcroft stays: we drop further, fans / owner wedge gets deeper, fans stop caring rather than engaging
Flitcroft goes: fans get the blame, fans / owner wedge stagnates, what happens from there who knows

In charge of recruitment for a relegated side. Time for a change.

Last game of the season or when relegation is confirmed for the Flitcroft protest?

This season has been an absolute disaster. I don’t mean the relegation necessarily, though obviously that’s a huge setback - but the whole direction of the club is pointing backwards. The priorities are all wrong. The first team football doesn’t even seem to be a top 5 priority. From Crosby, to recruitment ethos, to actual recruitment, to management, leadership, fan engagement, repeated mistakes, losing loans, injuries. It’s just been awful, and this is the future.

I geniunely think he will resign as League 2 will be below him
That's what I am worried about. I think with his own team he can do a decent job. But who would take him in L1 off the back of the end of this season, should we be relegated? He'd have to rebuild his reputation with a strong start to L2 before jumping ship back to L1, surely?

Backed by ambitious owner Stewart Day, Flitcroft signed experienced players such as Kelvin Etuhu, Nicky Adams, Ryan Lowe and Shwan Jalal; Flitcroft said that "we’re in League Two, but we try and behave like a Championship club".[62] The club spent £100,000 on improving the pitch and dressing rooms, whilst long-distance coach journeys were replaced by flights
Sound familiar ? And we all know where Bury ended up.
I don't understand the logic of that philosophy. Aspire to become a championship club through incremental development, but 'behaving' like one is naïve and simplistic. I'd rather us behave as a professional and ambitious 'whatever league we are in' club, and build from there with a solid foundation.

I don't think we'll see Gore again; I wonder how much that 45 mins against Pompey have cost us both financially and a precious place in the squad we could have filled with a much-needed anchorman - our very own Ron Burgundy.

where is Walters? Him and Ojo together would make sense.

So does Micky Adams and is 17 years younger.
Micky Adams as DOF, never thought of that. I'll meditate on the pros and cons over the next 10 minutes or so.
