  1. What is it something like 7 points from 24 against the bottom 4 (excluding us)? That’s mad. 2 wins from 8.
  2. I noticed someone blamed the kit earlier in the thread, so nothing is safe from criticism.
  3. Exactly, flat back 4 and then press every other player up. 3 10s behind 2 strikers. Give the fans a reason to come.

Darren says he’s optimistic so that’s good. I thought he’d used the wrong word, but then he repeated it.

If Gore had managed to stay fit, that would have given us some creativity and stability in midfield. By now he'd be cemented and playing the same deep-lying role Devine was growing into. Losing that turned Moore's options in that position from valuable to simply damage control. He was considered a huge coup in January akin to those we'd lost, and I'm sure he'll go out on loan next year in L1 and be a huge success.
  6. But their fringe players are better than our first team. If they sub in fans we might have a chance.
  7. Anyway on to the next, let's get the Bolton thread open. Excited for this one.
  8. Ojo, Sang, Yak, Smith, Grant, Lowe, Loft, Jones, Debrah are all under contract. That's the biggest stumbling block, repurposing as many of those squad places and wages as possible. I really believe the main causes for the substandard, bizarre recruitment have been removed. We haven't seen a transfer window since this fundamental change. This responsibility being in the hands of other people will surely lead to Massey, Uche, Wilson, Weir, Lopata, Mighten etc. being replaced with players who are not only better, but also playing in a league below. Add to that some decent young players who can now really kick on and develop with less pressure. I imagine it will be a 2 year job at least though.
  9. I'm assuming he was bitterly disappointed and the goals were due to a lack of concentration.
  10. Can anyone recommend a sturdy helmet with visor for the Crewe, Swindon and Walsall away games?
  11. On the plus side League 2 looks the weakest it has been for years next season, as it stands (assuming the top 4 go up and bottom 2 go down, L1 relegation, NL ^ etc.) Obviously it will look a little bit different, but even if we can't offload everyone we'd want, some tweaks and consolidation could see us midtable, with a decent crack at it in 25/26. The alternative is play in a very competitive L1 with no-hopers replaced with serious hitters, and clubs of similar sizes swapping at the top. A season against that without being able to make sweeping changes could be a very long season.
  12. (Moore x Crosby x Clarke)1003 couldn't get 50 points with Ripley, Smith, Ojo, Loft as the spine of the team, Garrity and Chislett the only half decent players and no wingbacks or wingers.

The reality is that he needs us and we need him right now. We can't sack him without incurring more costs and who could we attract with better pedigree? We would also be at least in part blaming him for relegation, when others should shoulder the majority of the blame. He can't leave as like you said, nobody is going to take a chance on him until he has restored his reputation. I really think if he is given the overall say on how to spend the playing budget, he's backed with resources to get reasonable L2 players and we can wheel-and-deal some parts that haven't worked, he'll bring us back up. I think a lot of the damage has been purged in terms of structure, but we really have set ourselves back and it could take 2/3 years of consolidation to return. If we go down!
  14. We’d have to bring them on without taking any players off to have a chance.
  15. Loft’s just bantering until he smashes the granny out of Bolton. The greats know when to turn it on.
  16. I’d say last chance saloon, but half of the previous last chances saloons we’ve lost resoundingly and we’re still not down yet. It would be a good idea to win though, last chance saloon or not.
  17. That Wynne looks a real player. Linked up well, strong in the tackle, seems very sharp and fit considering he’s missed 95% of the season. Exactly what we needed to bring in and really solidified the defence. I’ve always thought we were one short of being a formidable, consistent back line and we’ve finally found the missing piece. Great bit of business and we can finally breathe easy going into this last stretch.
  18. At least nobody can say Vale can’t buy a Wynne now.
  19. Ripley Debrah (if no Sang) Smith Yak Wynne (Shorrock ready) Ojo (Walters if unfit) Weir Garrity Chislett Dipepa (3 interchanging) Uche
  20. I really hope that starting line up was a case of putting all our efforts and energy into the home games, rather than necessity.
  21. I'll hold my hands up and say after Shrewsbury I thought that's us 100% done, so full credit to Moore for getting us up and fighting again. But it will all be for nothing if we can't build on it.
