  1. Playing fast and loose about sums it up. They are dicing with our future and I hope they have weighed up the odds very carefully because the costs of going back to L2 would be very heavy, taking us back to the bear pit that is L2. It's not just the forward situation, where we are woefully underpowered, but also in midfield where our central paring was just overwhelmed on its first outing. It's stretching credulity to its limits to think that one could be optimistic about the second half of the season. 3/10 for me, given we're still short of a decent forward and left wing back - our stated aims.
  2. Free agents - the last refuge of the desperate 😀
  3. Blessed is the man who expects nothing for he shall never be disappointed (Oscar Wilde)
  4. Ha ha - but in Smudger's case it should be pinch 😀
  5. Crikey, fearsome look, Maybe we should go four at the back with Lopata and Smudge in the middle. Scary prospect!
  6. Sincerely hope we don't play Willo upfront where he is going to get kicked to pieces with predictable results. He needs to play off a bigger forward who will take the physical weight off him.
  7. He's going to win us a lot of free kicks, starting on Saturday hopefully
  8. Five league goals in 42 appearances, that's not so reassuring!
  9. Perhaps not even then. I wouldn't be surprised if Crosby is given time to get us back up again. We're stuck with him I'm afraid but what that will do to attendances goodness only knows.
  10. Que? Read the last seven words of my post...
  11. Just seen some extended footage on Sky showing a blatant foul by Pompey, which was not given, in the run up to Grant's attempted tackle. When the penalty is given the Vale players surround the ref pointing to the foul he didn't give. Sky say "And watch what happens next" as they then show footage of the fan invading the pitch and heading straight for the ref who runs away and shelters with the Pompey bench. The League will hammer us for what looks clearly like an attempt to attack the ref. I seem to recall a Championship game a few seasons ago where Jack Grealish was punched by a fan on the pitch against Birmingham, resulting in a £40,000 fine. The club's defence was rejected and they were warned about their future conduct and failure to control their fans. This is the last thing we need - the unwanted icing on the cake after today's shoddy performance.
  12. My conclusion with the forum is that the club is taking huge risks on the immediate footballing future of the club, somehow without any recognition - or even acknowledgement - of where our current trajectory is taking us. Everything else will be fine of course but we can't expect to survive in L1 based on the level of spending and quality of recruitment we've seen to date. It's cut-throat, the survival of the fittest and we're going to be trampled in the fight for survival unless the club wakes up big time.
  13. We might have expected to lose to the top of the league but, despite all our injuries, the manner of this defeat is just unacceptable. The plan isn't working, is it? We need to make the squad our biggest spending priority - above absolutely everything else - or we are going to have the best facilities in League Two. And the starting point should be to get some leadership on and off the pitch, starting with the manager. What are the odds on that, I wonder?
  14. Wycombe equalise so we are now in 20th place, just above the drop zone. We seem determined to get there don't we?
  15. Last 10 minutes at the Alamo - c'mon Vale, dig in!
  16. Shrews now two up at Northants with Paul Hirst back at the helm
  17. Shrews on e up at Cobblers - we are sinking!
  18. Looking at the bench, we are threadbare. Who of the subs could turn this round? We need some blinking good recruits in the 4 or 5 days left in the window.
  19. Exeter two up away at Barnsley Fleetwood two up away at Wycombe We need a point or three today
  20. Did DF comment on the interest shown in our own players like Chizzy and Gazza? That is as big a concern as any loan players we might sign as they are permanently contracted core players of our squad. We just cannot afford to lose them.
  21. The clips look very good but what I'm really looking forward to seeing is a photo of our two new signings: Rhys Williams at 6'5' and Dan Gore at 5'7" 😀
