  1. We did okay for about 70 minutes but if you can’t keep a clean sheet and don’t look like scoring then it’s a recipe for disaster.
  2. Been okay, nothing more. Probably about as good as we can expect at the minute. Haven’t really looked like scoring again, but also haven’t looked like conceding. Looked like we could have created more if the final pass or move was better.
  3. There’s clearly massive disdain and also apathy in some cases towards the club. The positivity of the Moore appointment seems to have gone in less than a week. We desperately need a few wins from somewhere to settle things down. All of this just stinks of relegation sadly.
  4. Had our win there last year. Lighting won’t strike twice. Guaranteed thrashing here. I’ll self combust when we’re 4-0 down and finishing the game with Loft and Dipepa upfront, Lowe holding the midfield, Mighten at wing back and Dan Jones about to concede his 6542nd free kick of the game. We’ll probably go there and win now I’ve said all of that!
  5. We don’t create any chances that’s the problem. Whether that’s the strikers, the midfield, the build up from the back or tactics I’m not sure. It’s probably a combination of them all. I’d be more confident if our strikers were missing chances or we were peppering the opposition goal. We’re lucky if our strikers have one shot between them a game. I don’t think I’ve even seen Loft have a chance. He creates absolutely zero for himself and offers no threat but it’s not as if we’re helping him out much. As for Mighten, at least he will offer something more going forward. The rest are too safe and boring.
  6. Dan Jones was given a two year contract extension last summer. Try and process that. He is a myth. He’s been injured for about 50% of the time he’s been here. When he does play he’s a calamity. Perfect example of a player whose stock rises by actually not playing.
  7. As I’ve said before, we’ve got League Two / National League standard players playing in League One. Jones, Lowe and Loft started yesterday. All three would not be guaranteed starters in a National League team. Sprinkled in with the others who are mainly League Two standard. Out of that lineup yesterday, probably only Ojo, Ripley and Chislett are League One standard. .
  8. My biggest anger is the insistence on playing the same formation. Which clearly hasn’t worked for over a year. We literally wouldn’t be any worse off if we tried other tactics or formations. Even if we lost.
  9. Do we think we’ll surpass 5k home fans today? Depressing that I’m asking that question actually.
  10. Put it this way, the average Vale fan (my old man as a great example) loves Port Vale and goes to watch us to see what happens on the pitch. He is not bothered about where the players train, get changed or how they recover. He is not bothered about the community work. He is not bothered about what projects we have and what new office we have. He is not bothered about the under 14’s and selling them to Man City before anyone has ever seen them. He is not bothered about the abundance of technology we have. He is not bothered about the number of staff we have and what structure they fall under. His priority is the product on the pitch. He is bothered about what players and management we have. He is bothered about where we are in the league table. Carol - your priority has to be getting the football team right. The rest does have its value and I understand is also necessary in the modern game. However, without a successful team (an average team even) we will be back to square one Our priority as fans is the product on the football pitch. That will and should always comes first.
  11. Does anyone else still miss Darrell Clarke? He was one of us. He got us. We got behind him. We need someone just like him again.
  12. Great post. It’s actually really sad what’s happened or happening. I genuinely thought two years ago that we could potentially be pushing to the Championship within five seasons or so. During the promotion season and even last season it felt more fashionable to go and watch the Vale. More of my mates started to take an interest and I saw more faces that don’t usually go. It feels like we’ve lost all of that over a 10 month or so period. We genuinely could have had a feel good factor around this club for years and built on it. Other clubs have done it. We’re now facing relegation back to where it all started (only two seasons ago) and have just had less than 4,000 home fans.
  13. Under Michael Brown we tried to stay up with the likes of Dan Turner and Billy Reeves. We’re now trying to do it with Bayley Dipepa and Jack Shorrock. There are so many similarities between this season and that one.
  14. Can’t even bring myself to imagine the post match team talk from three academy coaches.
  15. The likes of Lowe, Iacovitti, Shorrock, Dipepa, Loft, Grant, Massey wouldn’t look out of place in non league. We’re playing them regularly week in week out.
  16. Less that 4k home fans. If that doesn’t send a message to the football club I don’t know what will.
  17. This has been up there with one of the worst Vale performances I’ve ever seen. I’m not even being dramatic either.
  18. I’m becoming sick and tired of the focus on blooding these youngsters. I’ve got nothing against them, we are hanging them out to dry. These young lads are not boy wonders. We don’t have an 18 year old Nick Powell in our ranks. We’re in a relegation battle. We are the nicest football club in the world. We’ll get relegated and wax lyrical about how many debuts we’ve given.
  19. Why is Dipepa coming on before Mighten? Beggars belief.
  20. Shorrock gives the ball away literally every time he has it. We shouldn’t be throwing young kids out there.
  21. There it is. We’ve been carved open 4 times in about 5 mins.
  22. It’s a horrible position to be in when you’re waiting to concede knowing it’s likely that we won’t score.
  23. We look like a team destined for relegation at the minute. Again, it reminds me of the Michael Brown team that got relegated. Just need to find a win somehow. Then hopefully some sort of confidence or momentum may appear.
  24. Embarrassing if it’s called off at this time.
  25. As others have said, we all saw this coming. The appointment of Crosby set the tone for us being too nice, which has followed on all season. When Clarke was relieved we had the opportunity go and appointment someone who could take us on. We weren’t in the position to take a risk on an assistant manager with barely any managerial experience. Instead of building momentum and a feel good factor around the club after promotion, we’ve sucked the life out of most supporters. Whether that’s Carol’s or Flitcroft’s fault I have no idea. At the end of the day, it’s Carol’s money and Crosby was her only choice. It was a cheap and naive choice. I’m just tired of this club being full of drama every season. We should be a comfortable mid table League One club, looking to push on. We wouldn’t even have to improve that much to be that club. Just get the finer details right for once.
