  1. Swindon preview!

Another busy week of incomings and outgoings. We talk Connor Hall, Chris Hussey, Leon Legge and Scott Burgess. We also try and get to the bottom of why there's no news about the contract situations of Wozza, Smudge and Gibbo. Then we talk Swindon, why McKirdy is obviously going to score and ways for Vale to win. It's a huge game!

  2. Brentford Review!

It's strange after a 4-1 defeat, but there were some positives to take out of the game. Sadly, entry issues for a good portion of fans made it a rough start to the afternoon for Vale. But there were some good performances within the game, against a Brentford side that looked strong and played well. We're joined by Lorne Street Steve, who gives his view of the 90mins.

    Best

Forest Green nowhere near as emotional as Orient but pivotal in finally getting the season going

    Worst

Walsall.  Not just because it was them, but what on earth was that performance about. So out of character.

    To get promotion

Purse and Hughes equivalent.  Not convinced by either Legge or Martin.

Maybe a Championship striker on loan in the mould of Tyler Walker under calamity Brown

The Walsall game was so strange. I was so disappointed.

I think Legge will leave in January. I don't think he's sticking around to be in and out of the side. It'll be interesting to see what type of CB we do go for in the window. Dominant in the air, or a more agile player to play one of the outside CB positions.

Jonny mentioned Amond on the pod last night as a possibility for striker. I'm not keen on him, but they will almost certainly look to replace Lloyd in January and I don't think they'll skimp on getting the right person.

What's your best moment of the season?

Has to be the injury time against Orient and Proctor's winner, was the first win I had seen live in 20 months and felt a ghost had bee laid to rest from Tranmere last season... until we played Sutton days later anyway!

    What's the worst?

Walsall was bad... but it was that bad I could be angry about it, Oldham for me was worse, they were absolute dross and we should of been way out of sight and likely would have been had it been for any fit strikers! Felt a mugging and the defending was terrible but you know its bad when their fans rather than gloat were messaging on twitter suggesting we call crime watch!

What do Vale need to do in January to get promoted?

Dominant centre half who's solid in the air, I always bang on about Piergianni but he's exactly the type I would love to have! Another striker is a must to cover for injuries, if greedy maybe two of them, we cant afford to be in this situation again if we are to challenge.

Good shouts all of them. Would love to see us get Piergianni, I wonder if we could pinch him.

  5. We're talking the season so far tomorrow morning! Along with a few other items! But we'd like your thoughts on............

What's your best moment of the season?

    What's the worst?

What do Vale need to do in January to get promoted?

We'll drop a few responses in with our discussion and we'll release it tomorrow!

  6. Newport preview!

Plenty of injured striker chat, with even more injured if that was possible! We cover the cup draw, and why they put awful games on TV. And we discuss Bezza's new sideline of Xmas gift ideas and what he's up to at the Newport game! Then we discuss Newport and their recent improvements. It looks a difficult game given the injury situation, can Vale pull off a victory?

Good show lads, thanks. Maybe I was a minority of one but I kind of liked Marcus Harness for us, in a struggling side.  Not surprised he went on to better things.

He's obviously gone on to have a decent career. But I never saw any end product with him. I think that was more to do with the manager and side he was in than anything else, by the looks of it.

  8. Burton Review and Bristol Rovers Preview!

Bezza and Jonny are joined by Ed Walker from the D3D4 Podcast (And Burton fan!) to review Vale's fine FA cup win at Burton. Bezza needs calming down about Dennis Politic, and who do we fancy in the 3rd Round? Then there's a quick preview of the trip to Brizzle on Tuesday night!

Available on Apple, Google and Spotify podcasts. And here! https://aleandthevale.podbean.com

  9. Burton Preview!

The three of us back together, all in the UK, but still unable to get in the same room! We catch up with Bezza after his week away to get his thoughts on the Hartlepool game, the Rotherham pizza game and the injury issues currently going at the club. Then it's Burton, and we have a part-time Albion in Jonny who watches them on a semi-regular basis. Jonny is confident of a win, is everyone else?!

Available on Apple, Google and Spotify podcasts. And here! https://aleandthevale.podbean.com

  10. Hartlepool Review!

We've cast aside the 'lost' Hartlepool Preview recording, and we've gone straight to the review! A solid 2-0 victory versus Hartlepool at home, so I must be a lucky omen at Vale Park! Bezza's passed out in Benidorm somewhere, so friend of the show JJ joins us to give his thoughts on a return to winning ways, during a cold and blustery afternoon in Burslem.

To be fair, we were.  Never turned up, paid them far too much  respect and made them look good. Best team we've played I'd have down as Rochdale.

No doubt Gibbo is the best player we have on current form and needs signing up pronto. Great thing is Gibbo 2.0, post hammy, looks a significant upgrade. Rather than going backwards after that kind of injury. Which often happens. Touch wood.

One thing said on the pod was that he looks better on the left. But Gibbo 2.0 has hardly played RB/RWB. Probably he can just do both equally well. Which is a major asset.

That's fair, Rochdale were decent too. As I said on the pod, I'm not worried by anyone at this level. We gave Forest Green a good going over, and if they're the best team in the league then we've got every right to be up there too.

With Gibbo, totally agree on the RWB. Would be interested to see if there was any difference if Worrall/Gibbo switched for a game! He's an unbelievable player

Can’t argue with a lot of the player ratings. I can’t see a couple of those lads surviving for the Walsall game. Namely Martin and Rodney.

For my sins I watched the extended highlights on the EFL site this morning. Gibbos spell in the second half makes me think that he plays like any of us would play like if we ever got the shirt, basically running through a brick wall for the team. The goals against are a horror show that were preventable.

You mentioned Gibbos contract, I’m not sure what anyone else thinks but can it really be resolved in January because I’m sure other clubs will be watching him currently. Which also ties in with Bezs fears that he’s previously voiced about Conlon come January too.

It is tough with the contract situation. But if you want to keep him, there must be an offer we make now that would tie him down. I'm guessing he would become either the top, or one of the top earners.

Really not sure how you can criticise amoo yesterday ahahah really strange take. He was second best player on the pitch. And had a really good game playing upfront

I'll pass it on to Jonny! I thought he was good myself.

Give it a rest with this teams out of position crap. After 16 games no one "is out of position".  Mansfield are poor. Are Oldham " out of position". Lazy excuse for us being  piss poor against poo teams.

I thought we were terrible that night. I also thought Mansfield were decent, and probably the best side we've played against this season.

Told you Mansfield were on the march.

Good side, hugely underperforming before we played them… seems we were unlucky to catch them as they kicked into gear.

It was a great shout. They looked good against us that Tuesday night and have good players across the team. There's a couple of the more pre-season fancied teams now on a bit of a march!

  16. Oldham Review/Walsall Preview

Dreadful defending the theme as we lose to 2nd bottom Oldham with a performance that was not consistent with the rest of the season. Jonny and Stu go through the game, work out which players can come out with any credit and how we go forward from here. We also quickly preview the Walsall game on Tuesday with the Saddlers fans fired up for once to come to Vale Park!
