  1. I thought both came over well and both seemed happy at the club and want to get us back up.
  2. I suppose there are pro's and con's to the loan system. You can get players who supplement and improve the squad. Pro You get players like Arblaster who improve the squad but get recalled. Con If the player is not good enough you can send him back Pro You can bring in a loan who you might be looking to sign permanently and see if he fits the bill, if not you can send him back after 6 months and not be stuck with a player on a 1 or 2 year contract, which has happened with a number of our permanent players this season.
  3. The loan system is set up that 12 month loans can be recalled or sent back in January. Those are the rules which can benefit both clubs for different reasons. Vale didn't have a choice, you cannot demand to have a loan player for 12 months without an option for him to be recalled.
  4. Will be renewing, prices are pretty decent especially when you look at other clubs.
  5. While everyone else lost their share money, tells you everything about the man and why he is so despised.
  6. Does it matter when he joined? When you posted your 1st ever post was it valid because you hadn't posted before? He has the right to his opinion as you have. Very strange post for a moderator!
  7. Oh i agree Rob, hence why i am in two minds. Every club involved in the fa cup including the non league clubs should have had a say in the decision to scrap the replays. We should not be dictated to by the top clubs.
  8. I'm in two minds with this. Whilst it is galling to not get a replay when you play a bigger club, do we actually lose money when we play the likes of Burton and Stevenage as we did this season. When the share of the gate money is split between the 2 clubs and the F.A. minus match day expenses etc. By far the majority of our games in the FA cup involve non league and lower league clubs. I would say most of those games would be played at a loss unless the win bonus covers any shortfalls.
  9. It was a joke referring to MV's post about him thinking we would lose 😁
  10. I think you will be wrong. Exeter will only bring120 πŸ˜‰
  11. He was shrewd enough to make money from owning us though.
  12. That may have been what he was on before he signed his pro contract. No way would he have agreed that amount for a full time professional.
  13. I was watching a video today of Popey playing for Within Albion the other day.Scored 2 cracking goals one of which was a run with the ball past a couple of defenders and blasting it into the roof of the net. The other was a typical Popey header. The lads still got it.
  14. You can't beat plum porter. Manna from the gods.
  15. It shouldn't but you can't please everyone πŸ˜‰
  16. Colin Garlick was not or will ever be a D of F. His role was more to do with the administration side of the club a bit like Bill Lodey's role. Colin had no input to the football side of things. He didn't scout he didn't recruit and didn't advise on any football policy. If we are to go with another director of football it won't be Colin.
  17. Yeah but he had experience of older ladiesπŸ˜‰
  18. You would struggle to get an answer from a Stoke fan as their mouths would be full of pieπŸ˜‚
  19. He's nearly 80, do you expect him to run round scouting players like he used to. Do you expect him to do a full time football role with responsibility for all the football side of the club, crazy and a lazy suggestion. The other factor in this is that he doesn't want it.
  20. Bradford have had low gate prices for years. Not done them much good as it πŸ™„
  21. What do you base that on? We have sold 3 youth players for good money this season. Can you name any youth players that have gone cheaply.

    Why???

Exactly, Rudgie had his success by going out most nights and scouting players. You can't expect a man of 80 to be doing this. For me the modern day system of recruiting players from stats on a players database is lazy and ineffective. Get rid of the D of F role bring in a chief scout/s. Judge players on a number of performances. The stats should only be considered as an addition to how he performs in matches. A friend of mine who referees local league was recently reffing a league teams under 16 game. The players were all wearing performance monitoring vests. Pitchside was a guy with a laptop monitoring all the players. During the game he was giving information on what minutes he should be taking players off. Is this really needed in Youth football. We see this happening week in and week out in league football matches and we have seen ourselves how this has at times had a negative impact on the game. I think too much emphasis is put on these stats. The manager and his coaching staff should be the ones who decide when a player needs to come off.
  23. I doubt we have any realistic chance of staying up this season, but I would like us to go down fighting. Just for my sanity I would like to see 2 or 3 wins at home before the close. Hopefully starting Saturday it will cheer me up before I jet off to Cape Verde for some R and R in the sun.
  24. Sand? I thought the pitch drainage had negated the use of sand 😁
