  1. Massey will have the game of his life and we end up giving him a 3 year contract.

Dont know if Jones and Lowe are out of contract in the summer, if they are then they will have absolute blinders so we give them new 3 year deals too.

Cambridge are safe in the knowledge they are staying up, they had their party after the draw last night…...Vale are the gift that keeps giving

I think its a mixture of both.

One being that Flitcroft's gone and also I'm pretty sure that Big D can pick up and attract 3 or more strikers needed to score the goals.

Even though he's just been relegated and that could be a double relegation if Huddersfield go down (does that count though?). I just think Big D's got more of a reputation & clout in the game than both Crosby & Flitcroft.

He will know who exactly to bring in and I trust him to actually get them deals over the line

Agree he has got more of a reputation but this will be less should we do poorly next season. Not sure he will know who to bring in, he’s never managed in division 2 before and I don’t know what his contacts are like- we will see.

As much as people moan about him Sang puts in one of the best crosses at the club imo

Sang and Grant can put a good cross in the box (about all they are good at), trouble is that we have Uche and Loft who are useless. Both would be a ,or more effective if we had a Tom Pope style of forward who knew where to position himself and was good in the air.

Do you think under Moore, we will go the the whole summer without signing 2 or 3 strikers?

    I personally don't

Do you think that will be more to the fact that Flitcroft has gone?

Also, we signed 3 strikers last summer, 4 if you include the loanee, Thomas. Problem is that it was Uche, who cannot pass a fitness test at any other club, Loft is the worst league striker I have seen at any club and that includes Perry and Wilson who we didn’t want and then did when we couldn’t get anyone else.

Another 3 signings like that this summer and we will be joining FGR in the conference.

Devine, Thomas who Crosby treated poorly and then he had a player at his disposal who is playing in the Premier League.

If we take a step back, we are actually arguing about which manager is worse, Crosby or Moore. Crazy if you think about it

So true….clearly Moore has done worse.

Apparently Thomas was injured. Devine was very raw, not division 1 ready when we first had him….with a full fit squad then I wouldn’t have had him starting above a midfield of Chislett, Garrity, Arblaster and Ojo. I was surprised he moved up to the Championship and it has shown as he has only played 2 full games for Plymouth both of those games being in February just after he signed for Plymouth.

Rhys was not a viable option in the position we were in. His limited appearances have more than shown that.

I will judge Moore next season when he’s had a pre season and hopefully given the opportunity for a clear out.

Why was Rhys not a viable option to play and to play Garrity more up front? Surely it was a better option than playing Garrity further back and Weir in a more advanced role?

I will judge Moore on what he has done so far which has been rubbish but I am willing to give him at least 6 months next season to see if he can make amends.

Lets not forget that included in that run was losing to bottom of the table Carlisle and getting thrashed at second from bottom of the table Fleetwood.

Let's not forget that Moore had a much weaker squad to choose from compared to what Crosby had and even then Crosby messed up big style

Disagree we had a much weaker squad, the only player of note was Arblaster. Yes, we lost away to Carlisle and Fleetwood in this bad run but after Moore has taken charge we also lost at Cheltenham and drew at home to Fleetwood. I’m not saying we were good under Crosby, especially for the last 10 games, I’m just saying we became even worse under Moore.

We can be in a position where we offer 2 or 3 players a settlement for the rest of their contracts.

Here you go Grant, he is 3 or 6 months salary, now go find yourself a new club

Contractually we can’t just say bugger off we will pay you x amount, it will have to be the full amount but hopefully we can encourage players to leave, help find them new clubs, tell them they are unlikely to have regular football here but I can’t see many, if any clubs taking our dead wood for a similar wage after we have dropped down a division. Also, this is going to demotivate our players further.
We are going to be stuck with some naff players for at least another season, but let’s get rid of those we can and try our best to keep hold of players like Garrity, Chislett and Dipepa otherwise we are just going to have the naff players left.

  9. Also, look at the teams we played when comparing…..not one of the 7 in your list are top 6 teams and the first 3 games were Cheltenham, Reading and Lincoln. Compare this to Crosbys last 10 games which include Derby, Portsmouth & Barnsley, all promoted or play offs. Let’s face it, this was Crosbys worse period but he still managed to pick up more points against tougher opposition. We have gone backwards since Moore arrived. Only 3/10 of Crosbys last games had Arblaster available so don’t use this an excuse.

That’s why I said during those games.

Those 1st 3 were tough because it was Sat Tues Sat so it was difficult period to change too much.

We’’ve conceded goals  and lost games because of poor individual errors rather than the team setup in my view.

Garrity has had to play deeper because there is no midfield and Uche has had his chances but time again shows he’s not a goal scorer. Ironically we really could have done with Garrity playing off him but when your choice of midfield partner is Jenson Weir it’s a no brainer to drop Garrity deeper. Point is manager has had very very limited options.

Manager has had plenty of options, as proven by his constant switching, especially in the earlier games, it’s been Moore’s choice to play Garrity deeper, hoe could have used Walters more, the fact he has dropped Chislett at times and played Garrity deeper is criminal, the pair of them have scored 18 goals as opposed to 2 league goals from Uche and Loft. Defensive errors have been a problem all season, but is that partly down to playing 3 at the back on a wide beach?

Dont make excuses for Moore, he has been garbage since arriving, we have become worse and Moore has to take a big responsibility for us going down. Let’s hope with a good recruitment drive he can make amends next season and get us in the top 7.

During this run of games I thought we were. Considering the players at Crosby’s disposal and Moore I personally think it’s a very unfair comparison.

    IMG_1188.jpeg

You conveniently miss the first 3 games of Moore’s reign where we conceded 7 goals, throwing away points at Cheltenham and Reading.Arblaster and Devine were gone a few games before the end of Crosbys reign who despite not having Arblaster we managed to beat Blackpool 3-0 and get a draw at Wycombe. Garrity has come back from injury for Moore as has Uche.

I would be a bit bitter myself if I lost money... I know what it feels like... Don't forget Bratty administered the cheapest season tickets recorded for any season... Swings and roundabouts.

No he didn’t. Think you will find season tickets were a lot cheaper years ago.

The fans deserve a share in the club. We won't get it with Carol. At least BB promoted togetherness and made the fans part of the club... Yes it went pear shaped.

But then again, the last 16 months haven't endeared the fans. Little Port Vale please be grateful you are in existence she may as well say it!

The club went backwards massively under Bratt. What happened to the council money while under his watch. He never once put his hands in his pockets like Carol has. Bratt was not as bad as Smurf but that is such a low benchmark does not say anything for him at all.

I said it at the end of last season and I will say it again now.

    The whole defence needs replacing.

Jones should have never been given a new contract. I would have played more games than him & i'm nearly 50 and unfit.

Smith's not been very good for two seasons now and yet people think miraculously he's going to be good in league 2.

Why is a player being awful for 2 years suddenly going to become good?

I can not wait for next week when Uche Ikpeazu is released and then we can stop this pathetic love in with a player that is never match fit and only scored once all season.

He's a professional footballer and should be able to last 90+ minutes each week.

Get rid of all the out of the contract player's because that instantly makes room for new recruits that want to play for the badge.

People say that we should keep Garrity, Chislett & Ripley - I tell you now, we will not have a choice to keep them because with only 1 year left of their contracts, some League One sides will  take a gamble on them in the summer and get them at a snip. That's not a dig at Carol by the way but that's how the world works in football transfers. I can imagine someone like Steve Evans taking Garrity to Rotherham for £250k.

Let's stop signing players that have just been relegated with other teams because they have all got a losing mentality around them - Ripley, Mitch Clark, Chislett and Jenson Weir were all relegated last season.

I do not want the stink of relegation hanging around the place or changing rooms next season, I want to see a winning mentality.

We can not  pay up players contracts, this is true but I would be going to Ojo, go find yourself a new club.

I would go to Dan Jones and say here is 3 months wages, now, you can jog on.

The same with Conor Grant and Jason Lowe. Offer them a pay off but not all the contract.

Also, is it only me, but when James Plant first came onto the scene last season, he was a goal scoring, attacking midfielder?

Whose stupid idea was it to start playing him at wing back?

Let's play him in the position he burst onto the scene with, getting him scoring goals again and then sell him for a big fee.

The sooner the club appoint a new a Director of Football or Head of Recruitment or whatever the title might be, the sooner that chosen person can start dealing with the aftermath of the last two seasons.

Smith was player of the season last year, deservedly so and he has played well in the last 6 or so games. He is a good center back, just needs 2 decent defenders alongside him. He is not a wing back and he is no use at playing the ball out on the ground, that is why he needs better players next to him.

Someone who's departure has been overlooked somewhat, due to the lament for Ollie and Alfie, is Josh Thomas. He was getting better and knew where the net was. Not only fast, but also chased, which are two different things. Would have grabbed more goals than those who replaced him. Ah well.

If we’d have kept Thomas and he’d have played every minute that Loft had we most likely would have stayed up- he’d have scored 6 or 7 goals as opposed to Loft which would have been worth around 7 or 8 more points.

I’ve got a different take with negative tactics.

I thought Moore made us compact, better organised  and we started keeping clean sheets and managed a few results. Once we had to win and be more positive on the front foot we were very easily picked off and conceded goals for fun. I think this is the main reason our home record is atrocious. Combine that with a team which finds it very difficult to score I honestly don’t think DM had a choice. History has shown us when we concede 1st we lose so the only way to combat that is to sit in, keep a clean sheet and play for setpieces.

If we had pace we could counter attack but that’s just another story of our arrogant recruitment.

The difference with Crosby teams though we had a very good midfield with Blaster and Devine so we could keep the ball and try and attack. DM hasn’t had that luxury. The squad he inherited was significantly worse than Crosby’s plus Ojo has been sulking and stopped playing.

Generally we ended up with a very poor group of players, one of the worst in my lifetime.

Why do you think Moore made us more compact, better organised and kept clean sheets?

is first 5 games he conceded 3, 2, 2, 2 & 3. Not one clean sheet, it took him 7 games until we kept a clean sheet

in his first 10 games we conceded 16, 1 less than Crosbys last 10 games which saw him get the sack, he also gained 4 less points in those 10 games and that includes his only 2 victories while at the Vale.
