Carol managed that at the start of this season despite record gates the previous one.

Port Vale cannot be self sufficient and compete in league 1.

It's been going on for 18 months now though where we are not learning any lessons.

Any other clubs been dicing with relegation like us before actually succumbing to it?

No Bri we are very special and the only club that have struggled for a couple of seasons after going up.

We need a properly organised protest against Flitcroft. I hate to single out one person but he’s made his own rope by stating plainly he is responsible for “all things football”. Well the football is dire, we’ve hired mentally weak, uninterested and untalented players with an total imbalance positionally, and I am confident the squad is quite expensive ironically.

Vale fans love a protest. Well overdue one.

I'd hazard a guess that all the other teams that look like they are being relegated are not trying to arrange protests against somebody. It's in the Vale blood and I wondered how long it would be before the coffin comes back out.

The point is that these players were recruited after a big show of clearing out the deadwood. I think using the term has inadvertently meant that we have only recruited players who couldn't find anywhere better rather than actually wanting to play for Vale. Which is why they are not very good.

Didn't we get promotion that season?

It was blindingly obvious from pre season the budget was cut but when this got raised, most people thought it was ungrateful to suggest St Carol was doing such a thing.

Much easier to blame DF for not performing a miracle than to ever suggest Carol may have got something wrong.

Lose 2,000 ST sales at £300/ ticket is £600K. It may be more than that friend at this rate. We 'may' go back to only 2/2.5K ST holders instead of the 5K+ now. A lot of people I speak to have had enough, money is tight. I personally have threatened to 'finish' many times but have continued to buy in the end. I wouldn't take the chance in the current climate on people doing so.

Did we release how many ST's were sold this season? I must have missed that. I would be very surprised if we only sold 2k season tickets next season. When was the last time we sold 2k?

"And the EFL itself gives each Championship club £3.92million from its central income, with £950,000 going to each League One club and £640,000 to teams in League Two".

In view of Carol's letter (statement), she stands by Df and says he has saved his salary 'many times over'

In light of the loss of £310K from the EFL and a loss of £600/£700K in lost ST income, another £100K in merchandise, etc next season, he must be doing a tremendous job. In my profession, I have seen many project contractors promising the earth in terms of savings and guaranteed success, only for the deals fall flat on their face leaving the mere mortals to pick up the pieces or the business folds.

We are not PL2, we can't play EFL League  football with a squad of crocks, free transfers, youth, has-beens or never-have's. You can't treat the fan base with contempt in this regard. Football is the priority, we will sacrifice amenities and campus's for this (well I would anyway).

Get some sound common sense back in the club and re-evaluate. If it's a struggle and we have run out of time/ money then look for investment.

Use trusted experienced allies, John Rudge being one. There are many supporters with the nous too.

The Club is in a tailspin, heading for places we thought we'd never see under a Shanahan ownership. So sad to see for us all.

Carol/ Kevin will never lose the respect of genuine fans but this can still be rectified, sadly their outlay may not be recovered. That's business, I guess?

I remember a lengthy conversation I had with Terry McDermott (former Liverpool and England Legend for the young uns'!). We talked about football finance/ shares, etc (I was a big roller with £1K in Vale shares at the time!), he said to me at the end. "If you want to make a million out of football - invest £20M my friend". He lost big money in both Newcastle (Before Ashley) and Celtic.

I'd be happy to help any supporter groups and speak with the owners, it may be no use if they are set on this path of destruction sadly.

How are we going to lose £700k in season ticket revenue and £100k in merchandise? How much do you think the shop is doing every year?

Colin Garlick didn’t even work 3 days notice if I’m correct.

    He left under a cloud.
    Like many others.

    Steve Speed anyone?
The pitch is <ovf censored> by the way.

Time we started asking those hard questions to the owner. And why she has a phrase along the lines of when you’re not needed anymore you’re not wanted anymore.

She may think her new found fame in football is untouchable.
    Crook Norman thought that.
She needs to understand that football fans of 40,50,60,70 plus years will dig at anything for the sake of THEIR football club.

5 million for vale at the time didn’t add up.
And yes she saved us. She and Kevin actually. Although he’s anonymous these days.
And the last 18 months have been baffling to watch as a football project. Which is essentially what we are.

Three to Four failed transfer windows with no striking options and no wing backs. Doesn’t add up.

Her sheer defiance of David Flitcroft doesn’t add up.

Her employing her unqualified son doesn’t add up.

Her crying in the valiant suite and telling fans the players are phenomenal, doesn’t add up.

The players almost look gagged in their performances and the manager, well, he’s singing off the same hymn sheet as the open letter. It doesn’t add up.

I hope I’m wrong. But. Sitting back. Taking a look at a lot of what’s gone on this last 18 months. It doesn’t add up.

And if anything is a miss then the factions that will be will find it out.

i am not sure if you have noticed but it has hardly stopped raining since September. Every golf local course (including one that had over £1m spent on drainage) has been closed for record number of days since the Autumn. We are built on clay and the water table is higher than it's ever been. And the pitch is a lot better than it was this time last year?

Given there's 7 or 8 weeks maybe left of the season. Even if one of the Out of contract strikers wanted a grand a week extra than we offered . 8 grand extra wages wouldn't of been a huge gamble.

A bigger gamble was doing nothing.

I doubt any of those strikers were coming for what we are prepared to pay, which is the biggest factor in our poor player recruitment this year.

Some of these roles are taking the mick and are a total waste of money.

Why does the kit manager need an assistant?! Can’t the players sort out their own kit?

    People administrator? WTF?

You do realise he is responsible for more than just the first teams kit?

True to your username blowing your own trumpet.

    You must be right.

There are a few angry middle aged blokes in our fanbase who believe they speak for everybody. If you shout about how everything is <ovf censored> at a football club when it eventually turns to <ovf censored> as it always will you can say how right you were.

All in all some vale fans seem lost if there is noone to try and hound out. All pretty sad really

Remember all the pelters I got in the summer for saying we shouldn't have re-signed Wilson?

Wow. A 16 year old and a midfielder up front.

Was gonna listen on the radio but will just have a glass of whisky and a bath instead.

    Vale 0 - 2 Fleetwood

So one less striker on the books ?

I hope to God I'm wrong but it will more than likely be more of the same. Plenty of huff and puff, no quality in the final third and then eventually getting tired and bringing on players we don't really want to be bringing on but have little choice. But Christ, don't gift the opposition a goal after a few minutes this time and deflate everybody.

    Thanks Tyler

You can't actually really believe that, that they just decided they needed to be the ones to save Port Vale. I'm pretty sure her and Kevin had a good think what could be in it for themselves before anything else and before making any offer.

Doesn’t have to be a financial motivation though. The motivation could be to leave a legacy or to help a community that has helped them earn a good living. It’s not always about till.

Takes me an hour to get to Vale park the petrol, ticket cost etc to watch this lot not give a flying <ovf censored>.

will I be there, yes cus Vale is in my blood but they better show some <ovf censored> tonight and for <ovf censored> sake don’t play one up top and just go for it throw everything at them and pressure them at the back force mistakes.

saturday we were backing off letting the keeper roll it to the full backs making Lincoln who are <ovf censored> look like Real Madrid.

To be fair people are saying Lincoln are <ovf censored> but they are 2nd in the form table so what does that make everyone else?

What targets would you have set DF last summer? My thoughts

    Stay within budget for season

Bring in players that have potential sell on value

Develop X3 youth team players into first teamers

Build squad capable of avoiding a relegation battle

I think they are realistic goals that can be put at the foot of the DOFs door. He isn't responsible for actual results on the pitch as he can blame the manager to some extent.

If those were his goals, I think he has achieved every one of them minus the relegation squad. Although, if Moore gets a few wins we might even get there.

I reckon if was given a competitive budget he might be able to put together a competitive team. I mean, we are looking at needing a miracle worker to put together a good team on a really poor budget and with extra limitations on max wage too.
