  1. I suppose the point is, they have a club ethos. And so they don’t have to change it every time they appoint a new manager. The manager fits with the clubs plan. The one thing I felt the smurf regime got right early doors was the development squad. I wonder how we would be if we’d kept that going, especially in the current climate.
  2. Have I missed something. Has something happened with legge this week?
  3. I honestly think he could be a fantastic manager/coach, it’s the man management that it’s his problem and in football that’s huge part of the job. You can’t implement your ideas if you can’t communicate them with the players. I genuinely wonder if there is a mental health issue with him.
  4. Found the definition of ‘close contacts’: * A person living in the same household as a COVID-19 case • A person having had direct physical contact with a COVID-19 case (e.g. shaking hands) • A person having unprotected direct contact with infectious secretions of a COVID-19 case (e.g. being coughed on, touching used paper tissues with a bare hand) • A person having had face-to-face contact with a COVID-19 case within 2 metres [2] and > 15 minutes • A person who was in a closed environment (e.g. classroom, meeting room, hospital waiting room, etc.) with a COVID-19 case for 15 minutes or more and at a distance of less than 2 metres • A healthcare worker (HCW) or other person providing direct care for a COVID-19 case, or laboratory workers handling specimens from a COVID-19 case without recommended PPE or with a possible breach of PPE [3] • A contact in an aircraft sitting within two seats (in any direction) of the COVID-19 case, travel companions or persons providing care, and crew members serving in the section of the aircraft where the index case was seated [4] (if severity of symptoms or movement of the case indicate more extensive exposure, passengers seated in the entire section or all passengers on the aircraft may be considered close contacts) So a goal celebration would be a close contact for example. However the idea moving forward is some places (I.e the initial plan with schools), was to have daily lateral flow tests for people who were in contact, in order they didn’t have to self isolate. Maybe football teams have something similar in place.
  5. No, it’s quite specific who needs to self isolate. It’s within 2 metres for about 15 mins, or less than one meter for any amount of time.
  6. Hope Taylor is pushing into a number 10 position. Where is worrall and monty?
  7. Your man trump tells terrorists he ‘loves them’, but at least they didn’t peacefully kneel down. That would have been a step too far.
  8. In terms of outlay against the income.
  9. I was really excited when we went down that path and gutted we ended it so soon. I’m pretty sure it paid for itself with just hugill and if enoch hadn’t been injured we would have made more.
  10. Been saying for a while, the club should have an idea of what type of club they want to be, what is the owners vision, and employ within that framework. Then if someone leaves there is a fluid transition. You don’t have to rebuild every couple of years. Crewe are an example. If you manage them you work within the clubs philosophy.
  11. I’d rather Pugh until the end of the season as opposed to rushing and getting our third choice or whatever on a 3 year contract.
  12. It’s one person rather than a thread.
  13. That was pleasing. We had a plan b before the 85th minute.
  14. Feels a bit strange seeing us make substitutions
  15. I’m not usually a big fan of 4-4-2, but we haven’t got the right strikers (or wide men) for anything else. And going back to basics when we are struggling, with a formation the players have probably played most of their footballing life is obviously doing the job.
  16. I don’t want the manager liked, I want him respected. You just have to listen to ex players like yates talk about adams. He has loads of respect for him, but they knew where they stood if they didn’t perform.
  17. I know. My point wasn’t that it made you a better manager, it was that if you are going to use the quality of a player as a way to judge a manager, then his is pretty good. I wouldn’t judge a manager that way, which again leads to how ultimately we have no idea how well a manager is going to do if they are new to the game.
  18. I understand, but wasn’t Cowley a PE teacher before he got his break? The managers of the top two teams in our league had no league managerial experience before their current job. I’m not saying we should go for Heskey at all. I’m saying that why can’t vale do that? If we go for experience then we have managers who have failed a number of times and people will moan. If we go for a young manager, then he wont have experience and people will moan. THere is going to be a compromise somewhere.
  19. If its the quality of the footballer that matters, Heskey played over 60 times for England. There aren’t many players who achieve that. As for passion, I don’t know what we judge that on, or if its necessarily a good indicator. Like i said, he wasn’t on my radar, but I don’t see why he would automatically be bad compared the people I named. I suppose my point is, all the great managers had to start somewhere, and its hard to say how good they would be until they are given the chance.
  20. Ill be honest, I can’t say I’ve noticed a big difference between how eloquent Wayne Rooney and Stephen Gerard are compared to heskey. I’m not saying i want him as manager, i have no idea what his credentials are, or what his style of management would be, but I just don’t see what the difference is.
  21. Just to be devils advocate, what would the difference be between us hiring hesky, and rangers hiring Gerard, or derby with Rooney, or Chelsea with lampard.
  22. I have no idea who I want, but would be more happy with a young, hungry manager than someone who has done the rounds for the last 10-20 years. However, I find the idea that it’s unpalatable that we have a manager that is new to the job where as it was good enough for the likes of Chelsea, arsenal, rangers, derby etc?
  23. I said a bit ago that this was on the cards in the summer. Askey would have let him go. I would think it depends on who we get in to replace askey and whether they are will to offer at least 18 months.
  24. It’s not because you’re picking worrall out to criticise out of everyone. Your lack of answer shows you don’t have one.
