It will probably take us getting relegated next season as well before she does.  Another season with no strikers, crap midfield and a defence that love watching players run into the box unchallenged.

Fraudcroft and recruitment team are taking the micky out of the owners and they just don't see it.

DF is the Arthur Daley of EFL football. "Terry fetch the motor round" "Put it on the slate Dave" (sorry to all the young-uns who didn't watch 'Minder'!)

They had left there seats and gone inside by the time the chants started

Perhaps to mingle with the Darren Moore enterouge seeking more relegation avoidance reassurance?

Honestly I just think people have had it beaten out of them. Seems most are at the acceptance stage now and I think even if a glance at the table still shows survival should be more than achievable the eye test just tells you this team don’t have it in them. The atmosphere was very eery though, nobody really got on the players backs it was almost a shrug of the shoulders at the latest embarrassment.

I just don’t know how many more times an opponent gets their first corner of the game  and then proceeds to score with ease while our gormless defenders look at each confused as to how it has happened for the umpteenth time this season.

Lots of people in/ around us in the Paddock just looked at each other and shook their head. It took until we were walking out to muster up the "David Flitcroft - Get outa our club" chants, well, those that remained.

I won't be getting a season ticket next year.

I've lost faith that DF can rebuild this team after the last 3 windows.

Only one place that fella is taking Port Vale FC......and that's not the Championship!! Bury FC all over.

I dodged the bullet on this one. I had got it in my head that we were away and by the time I realised we were at home it was too late. I watched some of the game on ifollow and interestingly we looked even worse through that medium than actually being there. In fact we were just so bad that I couldn't even watch it from my comfy armchair. All their usual failings seemed to be magnified with no footballing ability, no pride, heart or fight and absolutely clueless in seemingly each and every situation. The question is on another thread, but here's the answer. Yes, this is the worst Vale team ever.

Mate it's a good job there were no bullets to use and/ or dodge in Vale Park yesterday!!

Yep, spot on this. The place in starting to look at right dump with discarded white goods at the back of the Hamil, the concourse of the Hamil a complete mess, disgusting with no one bothering to put bins for bottles, used teabags etc, staff in the serving areas, staff just utterly gormless and sauntering around with big queues at HT, I could go on. They really have picked a bad time to be sending a match day survey based on yesterday because they might not like the answers.

Mate they don't respond to surveys or emails these days. Way above that, who are we to complain?

I dread to think what nonsense will come from the club when we get relegated.

’We are learning and will learn from this’

    ’Get behind us’

Perhaps another condescending communication. Things will change, they will get worse if no action is taken.

It seemed there was a lot more people more interested in just looking at their phones than what was on the pitch. I was one of them.

Only time I did get really agitated second half Baylee Dipepa had picked up the ball in what for any other team could be a dangerous area but no Vale player even thought to make a run to help him and instead he was hung out to dry with three Oxford players around him and no Vale player in sight. That to me showed there are players who've quit.

It wasn't just me checking my phone for Fantasy league scores then. Awful, truly awful game and experience.

  9. I sat in the Paddock yesterday totally disinterested in the game as the whole set up on and off the pitch stinks of hypocrity and mediocrity. The condition of the portaloos prior to entering the ground leaves a lot to be desired. There is no spine to the team, literally, no cohesion with themselves nor the fans. The club has gone from a position of positive strength to one of despair and eventual ruin (again). "All fur coat no knickers", total hypocricy, abject performance and desire. There could be financial reasons behind this capitulation in virtually all that was the 'new' Port Vale under the Shanahans, but if this were the case DM would not be here (Who also sadly does not inspire me sadly). Only one way this club is heading at the moment and we all know where that is - well those of us who do actually care. Sad, very sad. Bad decision follows bad decision, delusional ethics, motives and planning. Rant over, see you next home game for more of the same.... but maybe not next season. May be 48 years and out for me.

    Shocking times.....

Look at some of these players - Much better than many we have now. Imagine Bernie Wright in this team!!! The Chamberlains, Phil Sproson, Ged Keenan, Peter Farrell, Kenny Beech, Neil Griffiths and of course Tony Sealy. I enjoyed watching this team more than the shambles now. We would currently struggle in non league with the current debacle of a side. I enjoyed these characters much more than the 'weak' majority we have now.

    1979-80 season squad

    Sqd From Player
      Kenny Beech   Midfielder

I wonder if the club are using the survey they sent out after the Shrewsbury game to gage opinion at all? Although from the title it was supposed to be more related to matchday experience/facilities I gave my thoughts on the shambles of a team/recruitment process this season as well!

Or is that a regular thing now after each home game? I'd missed a couple of home games after Pompey due to disallusion and a holiday so not had one before?

My wife completed one of these a few months back as well as sending an email, complaining of toilet facilities, ticketing, etc.  No comeback, no reply. I too completed the survey, I did mention the performance on the pitch (lack off!)

I don't know if there will to be honest. Football fans are very fickle. If we rebuild and are challenging for promotion or playoffs next season we all know crowds will be up not down on average, we will be televised a few times and will probably have a lower wage bill plus the much maligned new suite and corporate facilities will be bringing in twice as much revenue over the summer months before a ball is even kicked.

I'm not so sure this would happen given the current crop of players, many of whom are under contract next season. Unless massive losses are incurred in offloading and recruiting new players? I have no confidence in the DOF being able to do this either. You never know, there are teams who start from scratch and gain promotion.

Did we release how many ST's were sold this season? I must have missed that. I would be very surprised if we only sold 2k season tickets next season. When was the last time we sold 2k?

Let's see what happens. Smurthwaite and V2001 always used to say we needed to sell 5K ST's to break even? Whatever happens, I reckon there will be a big financial hit in relegation.

How are we going to lose £700k in season ticket revenue?

Lose 2,000 ST sales at £300/ ticket is £600K. It may be more than that friend at this rate. We 'may' go back to only 2/2.5K ST holders instead of the 5K+ now. A lot of people I speak to have had enough, money is tight. I personally have threatened to 'finish' many times but have continued to buy in the end. I wouldn't take the chance in the current climate on people doing so.

  16. "And the EFL itself gives each Championship club £3.92million from its central income, with £950,000 going to each League One club and £640,000 to teams in League Two".

In view of Carol's letter (statement), she stands by Df and says he has saved his salary 'many times over'

In light of theimpending  loss of £310K from the EFLnext season and a loss of £600/£700K in lost ST income, another £100K in merchandise, etc next season, he must be doing a tremendous job. In my profession, I have seen many project contractors/ organisations promising the earth in terms of savings and guaranteed success, only for the deals fall flat on their face leaving the mere mortals to pick up the pieces or the business folds with massive cost outlay.

We are not PL2, we can't play EFL League  football with a squad of crocks, free transfers, youth, has-beens or never-have's. You can't treat the fan base with contempt in this regard. Football is the priority, we will sacrifice amenities and campus's for this (well I would anyway).

Get some sound common sense back in the club and re-evaluate. If it's a struggle and we have run out of time/ money then look for investment.

Use trusted experienced allies, John Rudge being one. There are many supporters with the nous too.

The Club is in a tailspin, heading for places we thought we'd never see under a Shanahan ownership. So sad to see for us all.

Carol/ Kevin will never lose the respect of genuine fans, this situation can still be rectified (maybe not this season), sadly their outlay may not be recovered. That's business, I guess?

I remember a lengthy conversation I had with Terry McDermott (former Liverpool and England Legend for the young uns'!). We talked about football finance/ shares, etc (I was a big roller with £1K in Vale shares at the time!), he said to me at the end. "If you want to make a million out of football - invest £20M my friend". He lost big money in both Newcastle (Before Ashley) and Celtic.

I'd be happy to help any supporter groups and speak with the owners, it may be no use if they are set on this path of destruction sadly.

It's so frustrating in as much she recognises she knows nothing about the football industry and quite rightly she looked for someone to run the football side of the business, what I find unbelievable is she takes the first person she comes across without going through an interview process, same with the manager situation, as Jean has said we wont need a DoF next season.

Spot on. For someone so successful, catastrophic errors have been made throughout the business (Port Vale FC)

I actually think Carol is looking for a way out. I expected, after the sale of Synectics to have heard that it was the start of a new era of commitment to the club and that the sale would be used to support the club as much as possible. An owner with real enthusiasm would be looking to affirm a bright future.

Reflecting, the whole Robbie President thing was probably just a move to generate interest in the club and make a sale more attractive. I have seen little to suggest a long term dedication as much of that has stalled.

Some will say why all the money on Darren Moore? Well, putting all this money on management makes a club far more attractive to buy. A club full of expensive players does not.

When Smurfwaite bought Vale the biggest draw was Mickey Adams, because he even said himself, he had huge respect for him. Buyers want a good structure in place. They don’t want an expensive, failing squad lumbered with long contracts. The motivation of getting the club “shop window ready” is the only way a squad filled with loans makes any sense.

Yep, there's obviously something going on, hence the allegiance to DF by Carol. It has been all smoke and mirrors for a while, lumbering on with make-do signings and knee jerk appointments. This won't end well as the masses will be livid once realisation creeps in. Unbelievable, but when you think back TJH, many of us DID question the appointment of a DOF in the first place. "Go with your gut feel", they say. Tiring, the lot of it.

    Statement says nothing.

We meet, we exchange views, nothing agreed. Please support the team.

I find it really patronising. The fans have been probably the best they have been all season since Moore took over really backing the players. Frustrations about other issues have been left at the turnstile.

I will be very honest and say I’m getting really pissed off with the club. For 2 years they keep acknowledging communication needs to be better yet here we are still.

All that needs to happen is the DoF to front up and explain what’s happened in the transfer window.

    It’s not rocket science.

How I feel whatever the outcome I’m done. No more season tickets, I’m fed up of being treated like a child by the club.

I begin to wonder if they actually care about the fan base? (what a crazy thing to say - given the unity when the Shanahans bought the club)

To me the club is on a downward spiral heading into oblivion. Bad decision after bad decision, financial ruin through complacency and listening to one person. To me things appear as 'bad as ever' - it feels strange having to say that.

My support is in serious doubt after this. I'll always love the Vale but won't finance incompetence and ignorance.
