4k a week ? £208K a year before tax, that's frightening for any Vale player and they've thrown the towel in, when you think what the average working bloke/woman gets they are robbing a living.

I'd actually heard Uche is on £6K a week, Loft £3K a week plus the £75K fee and Massey was our highest paid player prior to Uche arriving? Hope this is wrong?

  2. No. Said this many times before. Previously I chose to fight for our club. Now the owners and "Flickers" know it all. Good luck, is all I'll say. You will be about £1K light with mine and my good lady's ST's plus all the other trimmings we buy.

I believe he was a big striker.

If we've decided he is no use to us then he probably needs to think about what he wants to do as a career as it surely won't be playing football.

Perhaps he actually found the net in training which would upset "Flickers" as he seems unsure on this point?

Agree entirely. Somehow have to come away from it bit it is difficult. 55 years of PVFC and it does play a massive part in your life. I feel let down completely. Not so much Carol. I believe she put all her faith in Flitcroft. She said she didnt have a clue and wow was she right.

Flitcroft and his recruitment team are useless and wow has he done Carol over good and proper. " I will tell you what you want to here "

Players, i know are poor and we never had the right players in for the last 3 transfer windows but i cannot accept their poor effort and no heart for PVFC and for ALL Carol has offered them and their families.

Sorry to read posts like this. Next year will be my 50th following Vale. It is in doubt. Very much agree with what Lion has said. Not sure what hurts me the most?

    1) The club being led 'football-wise' by a clown who has failed miserably and who previously contributed to another club going out of business - DF

Are those that see this as a major flaw - 'wrong' to point out facts that appear to be ignored by Carol and the board?

    2) We were all aboard the fantastic 'Community Club of the Year, had the darling of the media as our co-owner - HMS "P*ss this tin pot League", looked as though we were prospering on and off the field, only to see distance being placed between the fan base and owners, through what appear to be long-term 'pie-in-the -sky initiatives at the cost of basic requirements in terms of ticketing/ toilets/ access, general amenities AND THE TEAM?

Ridiculous, incompetent recruitment for two seasons apart from Ripley, Chislett and the fortunate loans of the exceptional Ollie Arblaster and a lesser degree Alfie Devine who was great also. NO STRIKER will be the 'ring' around Carol's neck for years to come.

For me, it's much more than that - but what I can say is the fact that from what appeared a 'dream ticket' owner base and jubilant promotion to boot, through their ignorance, complacency, wayward, totally out of touch decisions on and off the field, I now feel less attached to my beloved club than at any stage in my life. I have fought for this clubs survival in the past - nowI just feel "let them get on with it" - Without Me.

  6. I think that 'Flickers' position is quickly becoming untenable. He'll walk and the fans will be blamed for forcing him out. However, with what I have witnessed for the last 13 months or so in particular, dare I say I don't care? I do care, very much, supporting the club since 1975 but this 'dimension' is so patronising and condescending. The air of "who do you think you are" from the owners allied to the what is essentially bulls*** from DF is fast driving a wedge between the fan base and club hierarchy. This must be affecting Carol and none of us wish her anything but the best but what is going on here is wrong - so wrong and in some respects is even worse and more damaging than the antics of Bill and MOLD and more latterly 'The Fat Controller'. I wonder are 'Harlequin' still about (I know he's been jailed)? Smacks of that type of ' get rich quick' rubbish but in a different guise. Many top level clubs have failed with DF's policy. False hopes and all that. Not for me. I also don't want to see at least x6 of last nights side ever wearing the shirt again. Are the lads flying down to Derby on Saturday a-la Bury FC?

Won't make an ounce of difference but either Flitcroft goes or my family withhold our season ticket money.

Only £970 but how many others are not going to renew?

Flitcroft has failed you as an employee and should be sacked in the morning !

Make that x2 more. Probably £1K a season goes on Vale.

Smith has been mucked about by the style of football Flitcroft seemed hell bent on introducing,  in my opinion he's been hung out, he's an out and out defender nothing flash just hard and rugged, he's not a ball playing centre half.

The criticism of Saturdays mistake is probably justified but if the referee had been as pedantic as he was all game he would have moved the free kick further back and closer to the touchline where the foul took place, he would also have booked Taylor for kicking the ball away.

Not defending the lad but he should have enough credit in the bank, his confidence must be shot trying to play like  Paolo Maldini,  if we are intent on blame the management are just as culpable not playing to his strengths.

Smithy is not a PL2 player as 'Flickers' would like. It is not so long ago he was our player of the year and many were really hoping he didn't leave for pastures new. It was an awful mistake Saturday, granted. For me, I respect his time and work at Vale and yes, he does have credit in the bank as far as I'm concerned. It's a mess.

    I don't think that's true.

He'll get time and rightly so, but he was number one on a list of one target for the job. It's inexplicable that the club  interviewed only one person.

As for Carol telling the people at the post-match gathering that she'd just been upstairs telling Darren's wife how grateful she was to DM for joining the club....well, I'm speechless.

Having listen to Carol's speech after the game, I'm a little worried for her wellbeing. I hope she's OK and wish her and Kevin well. It's a mess and a little embarrassing.

I thought her saying that was an insult to fans intelligence. She didn't even interview anyone of a 'lower calibre' or attempt to.

The appointment was an appeasement to cover up the real issues and they are all ultimately her responsibility.

It's all gone up in smoke. I fear for the wellbeing of Carol with this situation. I was shocked to see DM turn-up and yes, my first thoughts were that of this is a panic appointment to appease fans with the hope we avoid relegation. She's intelligent and I assume there are people who will tell her the 'truth' if asked, Sir John being one? The video after match was cringeworthy and worrying. I hope she's OK? What a mess. When are the players being flown to away games? Has DF managed to secure the B.A contract from manchester yet a-la Bury FC? Madness.

I may have missed some but I reckon these are the players we've signed since 1st January 2023.

    image.png.f32a4c7e6c28c01b104eb6c7e09a8de9.png

Question is: If you had the chance to sign them again, who would you sign of the x23?

For me: (7) which is (3) as we'll never attract the likes of Arblaster/ Devine again. Ripley and Chislett will be gone also.

    Ripley

    Chislett

    Debrah

    Arblaster (I wish)

    Devine (I wish)

    Lopata (possibly
    Mighten (maybe)

"Phenomenal" Flickers is the man. The fan base areall wrong. Sad to see, sad to comment on. It was not supposed to be like this under the Shanahan's. Awful situation for the owners, hammered financially and worse is to come imo. Sad.

If we are extremely cynical, we could say all the good stuff of the Shanahan reign was down to Darrell Clarke being a really good football manager.

Without him, we’re back to where we started with millions owed to Carol, a poor squad largely under contract, and a new scoreboard, hospitality suite, and an extra changing room for the players.

That’s not me saying he shouldn’t have left, but just the reality that the club hasn’t really moved forward a great deal despite all the bluster - we just happened to appoint a good manager.

I think you are right Joe. I was respectful of Clarke but also attributed success to Crosby also. I liked AC and he is obviously the scapegoat here. We all know who/ what is to blame. I remember a conversation I had about football club ownership and shares, etc many years ago with Terry McDermott. He held a lot of shares in Newcastle United before Ashley. He told me "If you want to make a million out of football - Invest £20M son"!!! He was right. Whilst appreciative of the Shanahan's, they really do need to start to listen to the masses before even more heartache transpires.

I suspect the squad is as pissed off with the DoF as the fans are. Surely they were expecting some reinforcements up front in the window yet of the four brought in, only one played yesterday.

Darren Moore should have bought his job on Amazon then he could have exercised the 30 day return option when he’d unwrapped it and saw what he’d been given.

Been to the fans forum, heard the recent podcasts, viewed Carol's stage performance yesterday. There is an air of arrogance about the club, suggesting something we are not. carol has been a media darling for a number of years and rightly so. I can see she is struggling and believe she has been for some time. So many wrongs sadly, most surrounding the playing side, some affecting the experince as a whole for fans. "Flickers" as she fondly refers is nothing more tha a clever salesman, selling his dream at the cost of a decent well-meaning family. They are now digging themselves in deeper and I can only hope that someone at the club be it John Rudge or Ian Donaldson, etc are offering support and puttinga level-headed perspective similar to most of the remaining fanbase on affairs. Carol and Kevin have already lost many millions, continuing in the same vain will cost many more as well as presenting a real threat to their physical and mental health wellbeing. For me it's as bad now on the pitch as it as ever been. Flitcroft must go. Sadly relegation may only be the start of the unravelling of Port Vale FC as we know it. A shocking, deeply shocking level of performance yesterday and of many months is totally unacceptable. So sad.

you are absolutely 100% spot on. and ive seen some dross over the last 40 years. mostly inthe last 10-15 but this is easily the worst squad of players weve had over that period. the blinkers are on and i see nothing to suggest we wont be playing in the basement league next season. absolutely nothing. bring back bruno and michael brown as assistant manager !

I'd take Michael Brown as a player NOW!

    Darrell Clarke has done.

    Darren Moore will not.

I'd genuinely get on the phone to Crosby and say all is forgiven. It might stop some of these... gentlemen...that we have in our playing squad from sulking like children too.

Man up Flickers. Take responsibility and admit your mistake. ACT NOW, DAVID!

I am convinced that this man will go down as the worst Port Vale manager in our ENTIRE history. FROM. DAY. ONE.

    OUT OUT OUT!

Wow!! We are poor but DM has got some pedigree. Mate there is not a man on this earth who can make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Not a fan of this being a thread people are well within their rights for saying opinions about players and we all do on here but singling him out after a howler and poor season

id just like to remind people in the 10 or so years hes been at the club we have been probably at some of our worst times at the club. How many players have come and gone in that time. How many players have played in our defence and gone on to have decent careers along side him. Hes stuck by us when he could of left. Hes been a ever present. A rock.

i agree he hasnt been great this season however he has way more credit in the bank to deserve this. Im willing to give him another go next season obviously he has to get back to better form if he does . This bloke has given everything to this club for HIS WHOLE FOOTBALL league career.

Smith has been one of our most consistent performers of the last x10 years. I have respect for the fella. He's in a poor, poor side and struggling for sure.

I think we are considerably worse. There is nothing positive I can take from watching today and the Reading game. In fact, I have little confidence in beating Fleetwood tbh.

We don’t have anyone worse though.

Hes been here for 177 days. He’s played a third of the season. He’s scored ZERO league goals.

    The fans have had enough.

    Hes probably had enough.

The constant booing of him isn’t right.

    He is garbage.

It’s not healthy for the club or for him for this to carry on.

If he was missing chances week in week out, I’d be all for keeping him. But he isn’t.

He must absolute hate the club and the fans because the fans don’t like him.

He just needs to be sacrificed for the sake of us all and him.

    We have nothing.
