“We would like to place on record our sincere appreciation to Colin for his support and commitment, especially in the early days when we purchased the club, during which time his football administration knowledge, understanding of the industry and experience was invaluable to us. “Colin is a good man, a friend and somebody we will always be grateful to for his advice and guidance when we became custodians in 2019. Colin and his family will always be welcome back at Vale Park and we wish both Colin and his family well in the future. “I am really excited about the leadership team we have built and the plans we have in place, initially in the short-term in what will be our first full close season since we became custodians, and then also in the longer-term as we continue to grow and improve to fulfil the objective of becoming a Championship ready club, on and off the pitch. “We will communicate further details on the new leadership group in the coming days and weeks. Clearly, it was important to us that we showed our gratitude to Colin and informed Vale supporters of the changes before Colin leaves us.” On behalf of the staff and supporters, Port Vale Football Club would like to place on record its appreciation to Colin for his contribution and service to the club. We wish him and his family all the very best for the future. Colin will also leave his role as a Trustee of the Port Vale Foundation. This weekend, Colin will be at Vale Park for his final match at the club in an official capacity and will be on the pitch at half-time to receive thanks from staff and supporters for his dedication during his time at the club. ………………………………………………………… This was announced on Friday 31st March last year. The man had 24 hours to then say a goodbye. No notice. Just basically get gone. That was the statement. This was two weeks before sacking Darrell Clarke as well. 13 months down the line and it’s been a catastrophic error of judgement, or just a sheer power trip. You don’t do 7 years service at a football club, get advertised you’re gone on the Friday, say your goodbyes on the Saturday and never to be heard of again. Make of it all what you will but critical think these things. It’s why “we are where we are”.14 points

Pretty much every signing press release for the last 27 months has copied and pasted this drivel. Alongside loads of <ovf censored> about the players being hungry for success, like they were Ben Garrity copies. We've won 5 games since SEPTEMBER so clearly <ovf censored> not.11 points

It's been a few months since I last engaged with our community here, and I wanted to share why. Supporting our club had begun to feel like a toxic endeavour, and I needed some distance. Relegation isn't the end of the world for me. While none of us want it to happen, it's a reality of football. We watch for the highs and lows, understanding that success isn't guaranteed. Accepting this fact has made it easier for me to cope with the possibility of relegation. The turning point for me was the dark cloud that settled over the club last January. Something shifted then, likely due to the club overspending beyond its means, as evidenced by the recent £3.4 million losses. While scaling back was necessary, the subsequent decisions, like removing Colin and sacking a manager for struggling with a depleted squad, felt misguided. Clarke's ability to keep us afloat last season speaks volumes about his managerial prowess. If he had to leave, we needed a replacement with a strong vision for the team. Unfortunately, the departure of key figures led to chaos on the footballing side. Last year's preseason was a disaster, culminating in a humiliating defeat on the opening day. Concerns about the quality of signings were brushed aside, with dissenting voices labelled as negative. I held hope that Darren Moore could turn things around, but his tenure has been underwhelming. His interviews offer little insight, and his inability to galvanize the team has been disappointing. However, I'm optimistic about the future under Matt Hancock's leadership. Whether Moore stays or goes, we need a manager who exudes passion and takes responsibility. Another 'yes man' won't cut it. A thorough overhaul is required, starting with releasing out-of-contract players, sending back the loans, and trying to get rid of some of the contracted players who won't cut it in League Two. Losing key players like Garrity and Ojo is a possibility, but it's essential to revitalize the team regardless. League Two offers a chance for renewal, even if immediate promotion isn't guaranteed. My hope is for a club we can be proud of again, even if it means settling for mid-table mediocrity next season. While the road ahead may be challenging, I'm hopeful that with the right leadership and fan support, we can reclaim our pride in being Vale fans once more. See you in August10 points

Meanwhile, relegated when other teams will finish with less than 50 points and no win on a Tuesday night for 2 years.9 points

Looking at how the league has panned out he was given 17 games (51 points) to get about 4 wins and a few draws so about 16 points from the 51 on offer ! We have won 2 and drawn 3. 🤔 !! 9 POINTS...We could have put Boomer in charge for those final 17 games and picked up more points...9 points

I think it might be the David Flitcroft signing shìt players curse.9 points

Well Clarke was right, it was a poor January window. Which is why I said things began to turn in the January. It was that window that did for Clarke, but instead we were told how he was a broken man and had to go. Fiddlesticks. As you say he had gone off script and was contradicting the powers that be, which is why he got sacked at the earliest opportunity. Askey, Crosby and then Flitcroft himself by contrast were kept well beyond the point where fans were calling for them to go.8 points

Your a top fan Dicko and them lot are the heart of the club . Yourself included . I can see why you stopped going . I'm.the same generally I miss a lot of games at home as away with wife enjoying life . However even when away my hearts with Vale Always will be Carol you better sort your staff out . I don't want to see another season like this again . I'll change my mind a 1000 times till new season at present I'm DONE but I change by the hour as I'm mental and I admit that. At present it's no good any fan trying convince any one have a season ticket after what we being subjected too .8 points

I hold my hands up . Haven't been able to face it. Missed 6 of last 7 homes. A couple due to health reasons the rest by choice. Reckon I've spent 2 grand this season ( my choice ). Reading alone was 150 quid for 16 minutes. I drove to Portsmouth, Oxford . The home games have killed me. Simply appalling. Anyone insinuating the likes of me and others aren't " real " fans need to wind their neck in. It was actually affecting my whole weekend watching the crap served up. I'd paid my season ticket money. The club lost nothing by my absence. Nobody is in a place to judge another person as they don't know their situation.8 points

This season aye? What about the last one too? I'm afraid that at present, in the circumstances, no one cares. The constant feed of this stuff coming out of the club, the North Korea like idolation in reminding us of her OBE every time Carol's name is mentioned on the OS, the tone deafness in communication when we've won 5 games in 7 months is just aggravating the fan base.8 points

Just seen the post match interview with Ben Garrity, I had to turn it off after about 10 seconds he can’t even face the camera. The poor guy is completely broken. I couldn’t watch him hurting like that anymore. Probably the only one in the squad who actually gives a fuk. What a shame, as I’ve already said he deserves so much better you can see how much he loves this club & the fans. The day he inevitably leaves will be much more upsetting than when relegation is confirmed 🥹 Didn’t even bother with Moore’s interview 🥱8 points

It’s got nothing to do with Colin. It was a bit <ovf censored> and very corporate though how he left. What was worse was how Colin was left to his own devices at half time to say an emotional goodbye. Not a single soul on the pitch with him which I thought was very distasteful. This tells you everything how the club is run at the top. Colin’s enjoying retirement in a sunny climate.8 points

You build your team with proven league one players. The mainstays of the side. The spine. The cherry on the cake is the loanees. We got it badly wrong and the mainstays were indeed the loanees. The rest is history.7 points

First & foremost being just a football club should be the priority and that should come way ahead of anything else, unfortunately being a football club was well down on the list of priorities after this seasons showing !!7 points

Might as well change our name to Port Vale Community Club - PVCC ...drop the 'F' as it clearly counts for nothing - 'F All', in fact!7 points

We've got to rally behind Carol, if she is struggling and emotional its not good for her which is the main concern, regardless of how the last 18 months have gone she saved the club, and gave us those days at Man City, Wembley, Derby and of course it was never going to always be a bed of roses, football isn't like that, I hope she doesn't let it get to her too much and of course we need a strong positive Carol to turn this around.7 points

Agree. CG was a pivotal stong point in the stability and sensible decision making of the club. I feel it's no coincidence that the club has been in general disarray, since his swift and unexpected departure. Absolutely top bloke who kept our rickety ship steady, even in the roughest waters.6 points

We’re a football club, first and foremost and should be looking at putting points on the table.6 points

No messing about this summer trying to be clever with "progressive ball playing defenders" and "aligning with the values of the club". Winners. Let's raid Crawley/Accrington/Newport/Morecambe/Harrogate/Barrow etc for their best players. Proper men. Aggressive. Hate losing.6 points

Judging Deklan Wynne before you have ever seen him play is pretty dour even by your standards. A competent left-footed left-back is arguably the second hardest position to fill, after only a quality striker, and we have struggled at left-back for the whole of this season. Whether Deklan Wynne turns out to be competent remains to be seen, but at least give the lad a fair chance before judging him.6 points

What the fuckinghell is going on here? Genuine fans are on here posting that Carol "owes" them this and that, whilst trolls are signing up pretending to be Smurthwaite and Carol and talking actual sense. As if Norman would give a toss about Carol and her well being. He's no doubt having a good laugh at our decline and would gleefully tell both her and us "I told you so". The whole season has been a circus and there has been a lot for Smurf, Burge, McKirdy and other clowns to laugh about. But Flitcroft is gone, Smurthwaite is long, long gone, and we can be successful again in League Two as long as we (owners, staff, fans) don't completely lose our <ovf censored> and instead make sensible decisions, have reasonable expectations and rebuild sensibly.6 points

It’s not an “old chestnut” though is it? It’s still raw considering it was only one year ago. The point being that from that point, give or take a few weeks, the club has been sinking like a ship ever since. Good people at this club have been tossed aside like yesterdays news. Colin being one. I said all along Carol was being gaslighted by Flitcroft. I’ll stand by that forever and a day. And it’s not an easy thing to come to terms with once you realise it. Her relationship with Colin always seemed strong. And especially Clarke. It was a sad end and the start of our ultimate demise unless an absolute miracle happens on Saturday.5 points

Good idea. Don’t forget to follow it up with a rousing rendition of “David Flitcroft, he’s one of our own” 🙄5 points

A Manager is paid to get the best results that they possibly can, whatever industry that you work in. And in the Football industry you're paid quite well to do that, Moore for me isn't worth the 5 year deal nor the wages that'll be going on his bank. 2 wins out of 15 is utter sh**e. Whatever way you look at it. Granted they aren't his players but listen listen his post match interviews, that wouldn't inspire my dog to f****** run around. And he's zooming at walkies😅. I can't see us getting rid of him but I think the best thing for Port Vale is a complete revamp of the infrastructure of the club, what's that going to cost I don't know. I just don't think that Moore is up for it personally, complete lack of personality and fight.5 points

Don’t see how anyone could blame you. I’ve also easily spent a grand on going home and away, travelling to the likes of Peterborough on a Tuesday night only to watch just utterly boring and depressing football. It wears you down. I’m not going to either of the last two games either, can’t face it anymore for this season.5 points

Stevenage lost Evans today and some highly amusing caller into 3 counties Radio suggested that they go for Darren Moore! Who wants to offer him a lift? 😂5 points

So people who can’t afford a season ticket aren’t fans? Or those who can only make so many games due to work or family reasons? Would be daft for me to buy a season ticket when I have my children every other weekend & can’t make all the games so I’ll pick & choose. Fair play to anyone who attends all home or both home & away games next season but it makes them no more of a fan than me, just like I’m no more of a fan than someone who can only make 3-5 games next season5 points

Thomas was under utilised. Wasn’t amazing but scored 3 in 15, largely coming on as a sub. Damn sight better than the 1 from uche and 2 from loft.5 points

Why should I enjoy El Presidente? I’ve already stated that’s a farce! Moore, before Huddersfield, where he walked into another shower, had a superb record in management. You can’t deny that. Im just being level headed in stating that if Darren Moore, a man who has inherited an awful squad, a man who this time last season was on 90 odd points in this league with his own squad, a man who has been here for 9 weeks or so, has killed your passion for Port Vale then you’ve obviously only just started to support the club. Because you must rate managers like Bruno, Brown, Glover, Sinnott, Gannon, all higher than him. The first 4 had their own squad and the latter walked into a promotion ready squad and bombed it. Yes. He may not be the right man. I get that. But if he’s the man who is killing your passion for the club then I worry for your sanity.5 points

Well Carol will be able to get another award with League 2 on it to go with this one next year. Then the year after with Non-League Community Awards on it.4 points

The prices of the season tickets are good tbf if you look at most other clubs in league 2. The issue we have is the club needs to somehow do something to inspire a bit of belief for next year. How they do that I have no clue. Because currently cheaper than average tickets won’t be enough to entice people to watch the same squad again. I’ll definitely be getting a season ticket as I do every year but the thought of watching these players again truly sickens me.4 points

As much as I think he might do better with his own squad (because, let’s be honest this one is dire) I really don’t like how he refers to Vale in the third person constantly. It smacks of huge arrogance, almost as though we are beneath him and he doesn’t really want to be here.4 points

Why does Moore keep saying things like "they", "Port Vale", "the Vale". It's "we" Darren. YOU are in charge of this. Take some accountability!4 points

It’s rather impressive we could make an appointment that would make fans pine for the days of andy Crosby.4 points

I’m not convinced on Moore at all but to say Crosby would’ve kept us up is ludicrous. Think you’re forgetting how bad he was.4 points
-
I’m neutral with Moore. He inherited Flitcrofts squad, a team full of nice guys who are losers. The squad he was left to work with is pretty embarrassing, quality wise. Limited is probably the best way to describe it. I really don’t think he’s had much to work with and don’t see how anyone could keep this group up. I’ve always tried to be positive as much as possible since he arrived but it was always out of hope. If Moores up for the challenge of a rebuild in L2 then I would be happy for him to do it. If Moore leaves I don’t trust Carol to make the right appointment.4 points
