  1. Just a heads up for people like me who thought the kick off time for tonight's match was 7.45. It's not! 7pm kick off. Don't want anyone missing the first half!

  2. There is a lot of grandstanding on all sides to be honest right now. It's clear that the government have not got the first idea what they are doing. Worse, they are not driven by anything other than manic ideology. There will be no effective track & trace system. There will continue to be fragmented, poorly thought out policy, appalling communication, being dragged into reactive decisions rather than leading, backsliding, and, after it is all over, blame shifting and scapegoating to ensure that the NHS/scientists/EU/little spacemen from Mars are the ones who dunnit, not me guv. 3. I disagree. For a side with a lot of talent and a lot of possession we create very few clearcut chances. Askey's game management was non-existent tonight. Even by his standards he left his subs late.

  4. He's already sent Whitehead off before he got in his car

  5. I think some people need to take a step back and calm down a bit. First half was good. Second wasn’t great with the long ball. We played a hugely in form side whilst finding ourselves out of form. Created a similar number of chances to them, they were just clinical. Worrall isn’t as good as he was last season but he’s hardly been as bad as people are making out. Whitehead played better today than last few games but still very average at best. We are missing key players through injury and it’s still early on in the season. Last two games have definitely been an improvement on Har

  6. One loss of concentration cost us that game, the 3rd goal flattered them. Compared to last season Vale are not as strong in midfield, currently we're a mid-table team. The timing of JA's substitutions frustrates me but he left it late vs Salford and the sub scored the goal that won the game, talk of replacing JA is folly.

  7. Garbage. I've tried to defend to Askey and have always tried to keep positive but his stubbornness to make a sub later on is massively frustrating and costing us points. You could see a mile off it wasn't working. Starting Whitehead was a huge mistake as well - I refuse to believe he is a professional footballer. Absolute garbage Except for Brown and maybe Clark there's no fight or ideas from these players just the usual hoofball and hope it lands. Incredibly frustrating to watch and I fear with no fans at home we are gonna struggle this season. Askey and team need to step up

  8. I’d also say Fitzpatrick is alright as cover, but he’s not good enough to be starting and Monty should definitely be playing LB before him. And whilst Whitehead wasn’t bad today he also wasn’t good, didn’t really do anything of note and I’d give Burgess another go next game.

  9. Can always count on askey tonleave it until the 80th minute to make a change when we’re losing!! Rubbish vale 3-1 now. Not good enough, infact not even close to being good enough. Another game without a goal from open play, very very worrying. Team selection again baffling imo. Whitehead must have something on askey. Absalutley terrible player. Played some decent stuff first half , second dreadful. Why has it taken until the 80th minute again to change it!!

  12. Cullen back on bench alongside Rodney and Pope giving us plenty of attacking options if needed

  13. You never know he may have had some Ref lessons and be good tonight. Then we all woke up. Can see this being a hard game as Cambridge are having a good run at the moment. Relatives in Cambridge are wondering when this will cease and normal service will start again lol.

  14. The most obvious example of a ref affecting the result of a game is when Andy Madley sent off the wrong Preston player at Vale Park. Garner committed the foul but the ref sent off Kilkenny. Garner then scored twice to win the game. There are numerous occasions each season when red cards are rescinded but the result of a game isn't altered despite a team being wrongly reduced to ten men. Refs do indeed have a difficult job but to suggest that they never influence a result is completely wrong in my opinion. I want refs to respond to what has happened, not what they think has happene

  15. Yeah spot on. I posted before after a previous game that I think we are really missing Amoo. He give us that direct running and his end product is better and more consistent than Wozza or Rodney. I think we will be a different team with him in the side and I would expect McKirdy to find a starting place to on the left moving Wozza to the middle.

  17. It’s just <ovf censored>. We create next to nothing every single game. We only score from set pieces. Losing today early in the second half, why not change it. What’s the point in having forwards on the bench when we don’t use them? Or leave it until that 80th minute before doing anything Fitzpatrick was good at the weekend, back to what I’ve seen every other game. Not great. Whitehead was rubbish again. Just stop picking him, I’m unsure what he’s actually there for? What does he have on the manager? He has to be our most pointless and worst player for some time. Garbage and should

  18. Got to agree we were struggling didn’t look like scoring and he waits till 10 mins from the end to make his 1 st sub unbelievable

  19. 81 minutes to make a change when we have Pope, Cullen and Rodney on the bench and quite clearly the game was going nowhere? Sick to the back teeth of Askey. We have the squad but I'm believing less and less that he's the man to get the most from it. <ovf censored> <ovf censored>. <ovf censored> off, Askey!

  20. We are all disappointed after a defeat , but a few games in and after a defeat to the side that are top, what would be the benefit of sacking the manager. Who would you replace him with. ?

  21. Yes, we really could have done with him tonight. Unfortunately, this looks like being the story of his season.

  22. Memory tells me Vale lost 1 - 0 at Middlesbrough, some years ago, thanks to a controversial penalty that got Aspo sent off. Couple of days later, the ref phones him to apologise and the red was rescinded? But not - of course, the result of the game!!

  23. Im a fully paid up card carrying Communist where football is concerned, I believe that every club should get the chance due to good governance and management to get as high as possible in the league structure, it's not an exclusive club, every club in my mind is as good as the next and should not be handicapped. in it's pursuit of success. I would actively encourage any club that wants to break away to leave and not to bang the door on the way out.

  24. Without wishing to raise the anxiety stakes for what will anyway be a tough game, the posts about Kettle (whose record I was unaware of until I read them) are rather less than encouraging. Judging by the highlights I've watched, Cambridge appear to go down quite easily and their two penalties on Saturday seemed a bit soft. So just hoping Kettle behaves himself and doesn't get conned too easily as he did against FGR.

  26. I think you're underestimating how weird people get about 'their' seats. I've seen fights break out over a seat when the seat to either side of it was free. There was even someone on here who said that he would be happy for the club to lose money by keeping a virtually empty stand open just so he could keep his seat! You can't legislate for the weirdness of people

  27. So hundreds of Vale fans don't want a pre match pint, they then don't queue together to get in the ground. When inside they then sit apart as instructed and wouldn't dream of tearing up any tape that indicates a seat shouldn't be sat on, even though they've sat on the same seat for 25 years. When Vale score they don't jump up hugging and shaking hands. They don't chant, shout at the ref or sing at any point and completely ignore Glad All Over if Vale score. At the final whistle they all leave the ground seperately whilst social distancing and don't all spill out at the same time to mingle fr

  28. Whilst I agree that referees have often been the scapegoat at Vale Park, I can't honestly go down the route than they don't make incorrect game changing decisions. Because they do. Referees get blamed for soft penalties, when in fact the fault should often be with the defender for getting himself in a position where a referee can blow for a penalty (Brisley v Morecambe the other week for example). I get that, but you must have seen Trevor Kettle referee over the years. It's the weird pattern of behaviour that should be looked at. I've been at games he's reffed where we've been at t

  30. Overall, I don't believe that ref's do indeed make game changing decisions. Players make far more mistakes in one game than a ref' makes in a season which may result in a different result. Players miss penalties, 'keepers drop crosses, someone misses an open goal etc etc. These types of mistake change the result of the match far more than any perceived indiscretion by the "merry whistle-blower" But are they themselves indicted? As I have said on numerous occasions, the referee is the only honest man on the pitch. More emphasis should be placed on players cheating (and I make

  31. A lot of hard graft required of the front three tomorrow as it will be a full on game. Work rate the number one consideration, anything else a bonus.

  32. Its not about answers yet mate, there aren't any at the moment. Its about trust, clarity, confidence and honesty more than anything. Sadly, over a very short period of time, what little there was has been eroded.

  33. What Tory politician with any sense would want to overthrow Boris in the middle of a pandemic? Any new Prime Minister would face the same criticism of either not doing enough to save the economy or not doing enough to save lives. This winter will see many deaths and many ruined businesses/families regardless of what the government do now. I'm sure there will be plotting going on behind closed doors and when the vaccine is in sight, or at least the prospect of a breather in summer, then the knives will come out.
