  1. We all have read the theories and rumours. Askey, Sinclair, Mckirdy, Robinson, Pugh, Garlick. All and more mentioned in disparaging ways throughout the season. I think last season in hindsight did us no favours just missing out and the national acclaim for our magnanimous vote to end the season early. The majority ( myself included) got giddy as we beat Crawley and Exeter. Immediately the cracks appeared ,3 successive games without a goal brought us down to earth. We then played ok against Salford and well against Cheltenham. Back in contention. Whatever has happene

  2. I understand why people don’t want Sinclair as manager completely. I don’t understand where this complete hatred for him has come from. It’s a bit odd.

  3. Very telling words I'd really really really love to know why there was neither a minutes silence or a minute applause for the very sad loss of one of our own Charlie and a superb player from our hey day in Johnny Jeffers This needs to be pointed out to whoever that it is totally unacceptable and I'm maybe too strong here , but downright disrespectful. The no crowd has no bearing on it. Rest in peace 2 great blokes and shame on no respect being shown at 3-00pm

  4. I'll make some fairly controversial comments here. We're being let down by the entire club, at present. There is a complete abandonment of anyone to take a decision and sort this chaos out. We're meandering, with the club in shambles. Leaks all over the show. Players disinterested, making uncharacteristic mistakes, and looking like a group of strangers. A managerial team of rookies, supplemented by two lads who a few weeks ago were running drills with the U14s. It's non-league. I'm afraid Carol is not covering herself in glory here. I am a massive fan of her, but she's not handling

  6. Get him gone. Did anyone see him today, smiling at some point? Since returning to the club he has overseen failure after failure. What advice is he offering to the board, it must be terrible! Get him gone. While we're at it, get everyone else gone too. All of them. Except for Brown who I like. Knock the stadium down, it's overseen nothing but failure since the 90s. Even though I was pleased about almost everything to do with the club about 6 months ago, I am now furious and demand action. Why hasn't Carol responded to this post with a statement? She's probably too busy making a cheese sandwich

  7. The view that we “dipped” after Sinclair arrived is false. He was appointed in August. Prior to the Kings Lynn game we were flying high in the table and that was in November. In terms of coaching credentials he holds the UEFA A badge which I suspect is a higher coaching qualification that anyone on OVF and potentially higher than anyone currently at the club (I believe Pugh has his UEFA B badge). The very simple fact is that a significant number of the playing squad are just not good enough. Of those who are good enough I would suggest only Conlon and Worrall (and perhaps Rodders) ha

  8. This isn't me getting all aboard the Sinclair train by any stretch. I'd be quite happy to wake up tomorrow morning to find Sinclair Pugh and half the playing staff have been shipped out by a new manager we can all get behind. However, I find this constant character assassination of Sinclair baffling, especially considering nobody can seem to tell us what he's actually done to become so hated, apart from run a rugby match.

  9. So who else are we going to blame next? It was Askey's fault. It's Carol's fault. It's Pugh's fault. It's Carol's lad's fault? Now it's Colin Garlick's fault??? Bloody hell this is crazy.

  11. Would we even be having all this finger pointing if we were 7th in the league and Askey was in still charge? Probably not - Garlick would then be the steady Eddie behind the scenes helping us to stabilise a push for the playoffs or better, the manager would be doing a great job, the owners would still be getting plaudits for their good work, and the players (who are the only ones who affect our league position on the pitch when push comes to shove) would be "legends". But we aren't 7th are we? Why? Well, the players have been beaten quite a lot lately, so we ditched Askey, and have players s

  12. Here is the issue. £1m loss due to the pandemic. I accept that. I can accept what she said in the RS interview about the ramifications of it. I don't accept the excuse that a new manager would disrupt the dressing room. Carol, there's nothing to disrupt, maybe if we were 10+ points clear at the top. I can accept why she would feel she's forced to stick with Pugh. We all know she's already put in a genuinely outrageous amount of money. The grade 1 clowns attacking her on facebook, and occasionally on here, are extremely out of order to the point of delusion. Who do yo

  13. Seriously now, why have Sinclair and Pugh been given a chance? What qualifications, experience etc etc etc have they got to warrant this opportunity? I was all for sacking Askey, his time was clearly up. However, if you are going to sack him don’t come out with rubbish like we are in no rush to look for a new manager. Nothing has changed. We are still crap and are no sooner down the line in appointing a new manager. We had one win against a terrible Grimsby side and suddenly Carol and Pope are on the radio singing Pugh’s praises and acting as if everything is rosey. We’ve also heard it al

  16. The Legge issue for me isn't the fact we're moving on from him. It's the manner in which it's been handled. De-registered, leaked, Legge tweeting cryptic stuff, and then Sinclair dropping the ball before throwing the issue onto Pugh's lap. It's a mess, and unprofessional. As others have said, the lack of remembrance for Charlie Holland and John Jeffers was a massive oversight. Lots of little things (rugby, JJ and CH, leaks) are going on which smacks of people not doing their jobs correctly. People are letting Carol down. She is known for her holistic and hands-off approach, trus

  18. Great post Darren1810 as usual and we all scratching our heads wondering how a happy club (pre covid )where the team spirit was immense and the team were playing some really good stuff at times not always but more than what we being used to these last 5 years has become what it is today with rumours flying all over the place of who's fault it is and J Askey losing his job through the efforts of the same players bar a few who were getting us all thinking they were going out the league this season (oh the irony that could get us out the way which will cause great hurt and be so damaging not for

  19. Folk need to calm down a bit. Most of you wanted Askey gone and a new expensive man put in who was going to take the same group of players and turn it around. During a global pandemic, with no income and uncertainty everywhere. I told you weeks ago, Askey isn't the problem and since he has gone its descended into a playground, much like what he had to sort out when he first arrived. We would not have gone down under Askey and he would have turned it around. However, with Sinclair on the touchline we have every chance of going down now. Askey didn't bring Sinclair to the club.

  20. There’s just nothing likeable about this team or club at the minute. I’m sick of coming on here every half time and full time saying the same things The whole back four is a shambles. How can we have four centre halves who are all as bad as each other? Taylor has barely touched the ball in 3 games now. Guthrie will never score us goals. Hurst has suddenly become our main winger somehow. The list goes on. Carol, appoint a permanent manager I beg you. Someone with no links to the club.

  21. Don’t see why we sacked Askey to not appoint anyone. I honestly think we’d have done better with him still in charge.

  22. A reminder: Danny Pugh/Frank Sinclair don't 'deserve a go'. They're owed nothing by Port Vale. They are paid to coach. We need the best possible manager in, pronto. None of this sycophantic rubbish, giving Pugh an extended trial period and hoping we don't have to make any form of tough decision/risk.

  23. I Agree with Carol this is a significant appointment ,lets not just employ any old journeyman let's employ a man who can get extra out of any player who plays for him and the club and can move players on who's efforts are not to the required standard at Port Vale football club . So no hasty appointment for me ,think clearly and choose wisely and get the karma you deserve Carol for all the good you do for others

  25. Fed up of this now, it's pointless. The club are facing a relegation crisis, a results crisis and a financial one and people want Colin Garlick gone! He's literally the least of our worries.

  26. Mr Garlick is a decent honourable man, who has worked hard for the club. He is Carol's advisor on football related matters. His track record includes appointing Michael Brown on a 2 year contract. Advising Carol to give John Askey a 3 year contract. He will have recommended the continuation of Danny Pugh as acting manager. Overseeing and approving the issue of 2 year contracts to Theo Robinson, Danny Whitehead, as well as the further contracts to Zak Mills, David Fitzpatrick, Harry McKirdy. Theo was going to sign for Grimsby but came to Vale. Ian Holloway slated us on social

  28. I've been hearing a lot of very troubling things coming from the club over recent weeks. Obviously I can't share any of this information as it doesn't exist, I just made it up so it sounds like I'm in the know. But this information is very troubling and conveniently backs up what ever grudge I've decided to hold this week.

  29. I think plenty are. The bizarre animosity towards the coaches - claiming Sinclair smirked, analysing the body language in the dugout, the empty nasty little rumours that people can't back up - throwing hissy fits and stating decent professionals aren't trying, demanding statements whenever something upsets them. Bratty little babies. It's embarrassing reading this forum sometimes, it;s like Springfield. I completely understand that people are frustrated but it so quickly becomes a witch hunt with people rapidly forming vendettas.

  33. I don't know the answer to why Scott Brown performed like he did today but I'm certain he wasn't told to do that by the management. I don't know why some of the players are contributing half what they did last season but I'm pretty sure the management haven't told them to do it. Askey has already paid the price for this and the players came out with all that stuff about how a good man had lost his job because of them but nothing seems to have changed..I'm pretty sure the relationship between the players and some of the management team is not brilliant. I wonder if we have too many coaches s

  36. Correct decision, the wrong decision is not to replace him with an experienced manager. Askey had very little league experience, Pugh has zero. Longer we go on without a good manager the more we will sink.

  37. From a personal point of view the problems I have with Frank are as follow. First his managerial/coaching record is poor. Second, he rocks up as youth team coach I believe and the youth team haven't won a game. But anyway he then gets promoted. Coinciding with a dive in our league form. Then he becomes assistant. Now he is effectively the boss. I don't like his ranting from the sidelines*, he seems a bit of a Billy big gonads. I don't see what he has done to earn the position he has engineered himself into to be honest. *Most is not motivational, tactical, just abusive really.

  38. People keep suggesting he's out for his own personal game and will stab Pugh in the back to become manager. I have zero idea where these strange delusions come from. They're very, very harmful for Sinclair, and have no basis of truth, who I'm sure is a consummate professional and wants to see the club succeed.

  41. The fans wanted Askey gone at any cost even though it was obvious to anybody with half a brain that Askey wasn't the problem. The fans got there short sighted wish granted and have the nerve to complain that we haven't splashed the cash during no income season on an experienced bloke. One things for sure, I bet Carol and Kevin are wondering why they paid Norman's ransome to save the club for such an ungrateful and entitled bunch of idiots.

  42. Do you read her diary? It was clear from the RS interview that Pugh was an enforced decision. She's already committing to underwriting the £1m loss ffs. I want an experienced nasty bstard to come in and Pugh etc booted out more than anyone but people need to not conveniently ignore the big picture here and act entitled. No surprise TJH is attacking her again after embarrassing himself other week attacking the Hubb Foundation for feeding kids below the poverty line - with donated food at at zero cost to the football club. To be clear, Pugh/Sinclair fills me with dread. It's giving me

  43. Yes i am for real. She/Vale have sleep walked into this situation with a blind loyalty that everything was rosy. We won 1 out of 12 in what may possibly be Boltons worst performance in maybe 20 years. A new manager was a MUST , as others have said Pugh is Michael Brown in waiting. So no personally i don't feel sorry for her. Yes fantastic she saved us from oblivion and is a genuine fan. Just don't think knows much about Football on the pitch, and yes i'll get pelters i'm sure . But i'd hazard a guess her knowledge of managers and their quality or lack of quality

The league is so poor morcambe and Cambridge flying. Let’s hope Grimsby and Southend pick up less points than us! Not sure they will though. Carol please please please get interviewing for a proper football manager otherwise we will be non league next season

  45. To be honest, I don't care whether the players like Sinclair or not - and neither should he. It's irrelevant and they should just get on with the job. The bigger question is whether they respect him. To be frank (no pun intended), while he may have his UEFA A coaching badge, his track record of putting any of it into practice is pretty dismal. He wouldn't get a look in, in my view, in any properly competitive field. So that's a very big question for him. All of which puts us in a pretty dire position, if you ask me. What still rankles is the treatment dished out to Legge and th

  46. I’ve been saying this for weeks, the criticism of Sinclair is a disgrace. I’ve seen nothing to suggest he’s not trying his best at his job, which is working with the academy. Suddenly he’s found himself having to help with the first team, and again I’ve seen nothing to suggest he’s not giving his all. These nasty rumours blaming him for everything, without a single shred of evidence, are really poor and I’m growing really sick of them. I’m glad I’m not the only one.
