  1. The silence never worried me at all, I was always fully behind Carol and firmly believed that she was quietly going on with the business of running the club - in the best interests of the club and it's future.

  2. I really don't care who we appoint. All I ask for is an improvement in results until the end of the season and a huge clear out at the end of it, with positive recruitment targeting youth. Really don't trust any of the so called senior pros after what's gone on this season

  3. The worry for me is twofold : Firstly whoever takes control will not be everyone's first choice and plenty will immediately jump on the "I never wanted him in the first place" bandwagon as soon as we lose 2 on the bounce. Let's be honest here, we are where we are for good reason and to turn this around is going to take time, money and above all patience - especially from us fans......especially those who are always right. Secondly, if there is any truth about the numerous rumours circulating, is the board going to act first to weed out any trouble makers and will the new manager have full cont

  5. To be fair, there wasn't silence from the club. Carol gave an interview to Radio Stoke last week which had a couple of worrying/unclear comments in. The fans weren't filling a communications void, merely reacting to the comments made about 'not appointing a manager at this stage' as things fell apart on the pitch. Thankfully, sense has been seen and the fanbase seems far more settled this morning. Really illustrates the importance of clear and consistent communication.

  6. Fleetwood look set to announce Chelsea Coach Anthony Barry as manager. People on here would hate that. Chris Beech of Carlisle was 3rd favourite... His record before Carlisle was 6 caretaker manager games in charge of Rochdale with ZERO wins. If we had hired him like Carlisle did people on here would have hated it. Whoever we hire wont please everyone... so PLEASE can we back them and realise they are coming into a very difficult situation and may not get immediate results. Unless is Holloway... he can s*d off... hahahahaha

  7. I think I'd feel more confident if the new manager is allowed to bring in his own backroom staff, rather than inheriting what's already here. A fresh slate is what we need in my opinion.

  8. But by common consent on here no one would be daft enough to buy any of our players so how do we make room in the squad? And if we simple de-register players how do we stick to the wage cap when we still have to pay them?

  9. Finally been able to read the article and encouraging news. Hopefully the article will be read by the players and coaches and encourage them to play at the level they were at the start of the season. The fans will be encouraged that the process of appointing a manager is happening and will happen in due course.

  10. I Agree with Carol this is a significant appointment ,lets not just employ any old journeyman let's employ a man who can get extra out of any player who plays for him and the club and can move players on who's efforts are not to the required standard at Port Vale football club . So no hasty appointment for me ,think clearly and choose wisely and get the karma you deserve Carol for all the good you do for others

  11. With doing the basics Port Vale have players capable of winning games you do not score 6 away if you do not have the capability to do that ,I believe if the confidence of players rises they are capable of 10 wins in a row in this league however at present ,and since the kings Lynn debacle we have had so many poor giveaway goals (gifts )given to the opposition in most games I've watched them it's being absolutely ridiculous and yet the players who have being mainly responsible keep being picked ,either in my opinion that's a deliberate ploy to relegate us I have no idea what I do know is that t

  14. I notice a few folk have been mentioning Derek Adams name. Just had a gander at the Morecambe forum and one poster says this: "DA has totally transformed this club in such a short space of time." Could he transform us??

  15. If we can prove we're better than Southend it'll be them and Grimsby for the drop. Fail to do that though and we could find ourselves in deep water. 2 0 Vale I say!

  16. We do have saleable assets, Conlon,Worrall, Rodney,Gibbo,Hurst,Taylor and I’d say Scott Brown who shouldn’t be judged just on this season. These are the players that we can’t afford to lose, if we’re looking ahead. All teams will have players that no one else would be interested in buying and will be released at the end of their current contracts. I agree de registering is not the always the way of solving a problem unless you can move those players on, so we’ll know if it’s worked by Tuesday next week.

  17. I thought Joyce did very well when he come on tues as did Gibbons and even Amoo who was used as a striker did ok ,the 3 subs improved us to get a 0-0 second half . So 3 days until the game and if I was manager I'd be going through a few things with the strikers and the final ball in which in general was not up to the standard we needed it be v Scunthorpe ,so if we have 20 crosses going in I want see our striker anticipating that it might be going near post and not far and get in there and score ,as for dead balls it's not good just floating them in do the free kick used by Liverpool v Cr

  18. I have to admit the silence had shook my faith in her a little bit. Because the void through the lack of information from the club was being filled with all sorts of rumours and worries from us fans which is generally what happens when you haven't heard from a loved one who you know is having a bad time. At least now we know she is working on it, she has a plan and she won't be rushing in to fill a role that is the most important and most difficult position to get right.

  20. Super article by Carol, thank god she’s in charge rather than some of the planks on this forum. Nobody can argue with her vision and philosophies, so back off and give her time & space. It’s important that the next manager is the right person and wants to work with the owners plans. We don’t need a stop gap appointment of some out of work journeyman.

  23. I think the record with Joyce in the team speaks for itself. Cant believe he is being hunted after last night. So many more inept, awful, disgraceful performances. Really weird in my opinion.

  24. He is that rich. He would have retained the ground as it was in a separate company and could have rented/sold it, and that made up about 90% of the club's value. The bloke held all the cards. I'm glad to know you'd have taken the risk with 125 years of history and a club that stretches back generations, on the basis that an unhinged man with a reputation for spite would do the sensible thing, but I thank the Lord everyday that Carol didn't risk it.

  25. Doesn't fit in with what Carol wants Interesting to see if anyone is in the stand saturday watching with carol.... I am hoping Adams isn't at the Morecambe game 🙂

  26. If it was me i would allow whoever comes in to bring their own team with them and put Pugh head of youth and Academy and get rid of Sinclair totally

  27. Hallelujah.... I'm more happy we have actually communicated our intentions. Carol's criteria for the new manager has sound logic. My only question mark would be the new manager must keep Pugh around. This has potential to be a sticking point but I would hope not.

  28. If we dont beat bottom of the table Southend at home then realistically who are we going to beat. We are looking like a bottom of the table side ourselves with a team full of bottom of the table players. I know a good manager can make a difference but if any of our players think they are half decent footballers then go out there and prove it. Who do you need to hold your hand ?

  29. I would hope so as a good manager should hopefully be able to mould Taylor or Burgess into a decent midfielder but will we use it for a manager or go with what we have got? Personally i think Conlon with 18mths left on his deal could command a fee of 150k plus and maybe a sell on

  30. Sadly i do think with his current form there is interest in him,i do know he has been watched several times but whether that ends up with a good enough offer for us who knows and will we accept it,in the current climate we might not have much choice

  31. Fed up of this now, it's pointless. The club are facing a relegation crisis, a results crisis and a financial one and people want Colin Garlick gone! He's literally the least of our worries.

  32. We have to stop letting goals in, that’s the first priority. Don’t care if it looks grim and we get a run of 0-0s. Build from that
