  1. Absolutely massive credit to Bede, Mellor, Mark, Tony, Jean, NLV lads, and anyone I missed off. They braved it and talked Carol into viewing things very differently. Got a load of undeserved stick from people who didn’t have a clue. Once again, these lads and ladies sacrifice time and effort for PVFC. Raising a glass to them.

  4. Having personally dealt with Matt all throughout this 'process', I'd appeal for us all to let the dust settle and show the man a bit of respect. He has been true to every word that he has said to me and others and I believe that the club will change for the better in the coming weeks and months. Rest assured, I won't <ovf censored> rest unless it does. We're <ovf censored> on the pitch. We're angry in the stands. We've all been treated poorly and left behind. But these aren't bad people, they have just had bad judgement and bad advice. We're trying to change that, and they are listening. Let's give them a chance to repair that.

  5. Right decision and will benefit Port Vale in the long run if not the short run to the end of this season. My view on Carol is that I try to judge people on intentions over execution. Her intentions are absolutely to do the best she can for Port Vale. That gets her a significant amount of leeway in my eyes. The execution hasn’t been perfect and it’s clear as a person she is very loyal and tends to hold on to people for too long when it’s clear they should go. Its not the worst fault in the world, I can name many MANY worse by just looking at previous owners.

  6. What a terrible season its been on and off the pitch. But somehow after yesterdays win we are in with a sniff of pulling off a miracle the only way i think we can get ourselves out of this is if we pack the park. Our last home games are all winnable and i think if we were to win them wed stay up. Id like the club to offer cheaper tickets to get bums on seats. Its the start of a new dawn flitcroft is gone although left in position far to long weve all finally got our wishes. Bring family/mates along lets do our bit to push the lads on . They showed fight and passion yesterday lets get vale park rocking for the first time since the hamil switch. I truly believe if we do it can give the players that extra bit in terms of belief to try and get us over the line. we have been fantastic this season considering what weve been put through this season but now is the time to put that all to bed and create some noise in the right way. We are all vale. We all want league one next year. Lets help achieve this.

  8. I really can't see any point in endlessly predicting/forecasting what is likely/certain to happen in the next fixture, we will lose, we know that for certain. Home, away, makes no difference. I accept that we are down which is disappointing to put it mildly. What absolutely infuriates and enrages me though is the manner of our going. We know that they are not good enough and that is down to fraudcroft and potentially Carol and the budget, or lack of one. The squad is horrendously unbalanced and that is directly down to fraudcroft. However, all that being said it is the players themselves who are entirely culpable for the way they have gone about things. They have shown absolutely no interest in giving it their all in any game this season (and last season too), they have never got injured going in for desperate challenges to win the ball. They have not closed down, tracked back or shown the slightest interest in working up a sweat. What they have done is allowed teams to walk through us unchallenged to score the easiest of goals. They have defended like clueless idiots and would be a disgrace to a Sunday league pub team. They have shown the most appalling body language, clearly giving up when the first goal goes in after 5 minutes. They have tried to hide for the entire match. In short we were almost certainly doomed before a ball was kicked, but I just cannot and will not accept the way it has happened. There are one or two notable exceptions and no blame can be attached to the young'uns, who have done us and themselves proud. The rest of them have to go, by any means necessary and in that I put fraudcroft at the top of the list. Whew, glad I got that off my chest.

  9. What I love about that is how happy the players are for Loft. They know the stick he’s been getting has been a disgrace. Loft seems low key when it goes in too, understandably so given how some fans have been with him. I’m happy for Loft. He’s been the scapegoat for Flitcrofts failings. I hope he can shake that now.

  10. The DoF decision can wait till next season - we have 9 games left to save ourselves from the more than likely scenario of relegation. We have got rid of AC, got rid of DF (who I think has not had a good transfer window since we came into L1 to be honest and his position had become untenable) so now lets see what our players and DM can do. As for Carol, yes she has made mistakes but we are in a better position with her than most clubs. My youngest asked when are we going to the Vale next (4 hour round trip), I said why we keep losing, she replied but you said we support the team through thick and thin, we are VTID. This made me think since '84 when I first went on a Tuesday evening standing the the railway paddock I knew each season some teams get promoted, some teams stay in the league and some get relegated. Lets face it I've seen quite a few relegations / promotions since '84 and always accepted the possible three outcomes. Taking my daughter these last few seasons has made me connect back with the club and I have thoroughly enjoyed travelling to Vale park and banter with my fellow fans (every home game is an away day as I say). Due to other commitments I can only go to the last two Saturday home matches - hoping we have a chance to stay up but if we are relegated so be it; its the chance we take each season. I will be there for Port Vale and the fans- not the players (they have let the fans down massively I feel in their performances and attitude), nor the owners. Players, Managers, DoFs and owners come and go but the fans and the club remain season after season with hopes and aspirations like every football fan. So for the 9 games left lets hope DM can motivate our players, - they owe us more than 9 games of good performances this season no matter what the excuses are; they are supposed to be professionals. Think we all need to hope and get behind the team now - 3 points on Saturday would be a massive boost for all concerned. Good luck and safe travels to fans home and away - see you on the 13th April - Until then UTV.

  11. I think you are way off the mark. IMHO we have a superb owner and to just say 'sell up and go' is hugely insulting to the person who has ... Saved our club from extinction ... it was a queue of 1. Spent over £10M on the infrastructure and purchase. Made PVFC into one of the most community respected clubs in football. Comments like that say to me you have no understanding of the 'low life' (putting it mildly) the fans have had to oust from the club this past decade or more. I for one would choose relegation this season but retain a brilliant owner to putting the club up for sale and repeating the circle of arseholes who have owned PVFC previously.

  14. This is wonderful news that she’s actually opened her eyes and seen what we are all seeing. It’s been a car crash of an 18 months for Flitcroft. What we have to do now is unite. If we don’t win another game this season and go down then that’s not on Darren Moore. He’s been left with an absolute shower of a squad. If he keeps us up it will be a miracle. What I will say, is that whilst this should have been done a long time ago, it’s happened. We can’t change the past. But we can shape our future. And by getting rid of him today, it gives us more time to plan for the summer and give that transfer window to someone who actually knows what they are doing, regardless which league we are in next season. Todays news is a big positive moving forward and lessons MUST be learnt so that this shambles never happens again. Finally, let’s see these players, on Saturday, put in a massive shift, leave everything out on the pitch and sweat blood and tears for the shirt. Those that cross that white line can’t hide behind the fans anger at Flitcroft anymore. There is no hiding place for them. Stand up and be counted for like proper men.

  16. Have we ever not backed them ? The loyalty and away followings have been excellent. Great atmosphere pre-Lincoln and for a Tuesday night, and no away fans the Fleetwood atmosphere was good too. Yes there's been boos but after what we've had to watch that's to be expected. I'd say the support has always been there other than the moronic booing of Loft and Massey which beggar's belief .

  19. Amusing to see all the revionism going on concerning Flitcroft now that he is gone... The consensus was right - he wasn't good enough and he did a lot of damage to the Club - good riddance. Now we need to focus on rebuilding for next season.

  20. Paul, my personal opinion on Clarke is that he was overwhelmed with grief , and his heart and mind wasn’t in the right place to manage the Vale. A very sad situation , but I’m really glad to see him back in management again with Cheltenham, and I hope he keeps getting better and better.

  21. Yesterday was a good day at Port Vale. David Flitcroft has overseen a disastrous 18 months on the pitch, failing in 3 transfer windows to adequately recruit and has now, finally, been held accountable. We have superb owners in the Shannahans and we should remember that. I have every confidence that without the influence of yesterday's man, they can now work with the fans and together we can go from strength to strength, together. The clubs CEO, Matt Hancock has been absolutely brilliant during the last few months of turmoil. He has met and spoken with countless fans and listened, sometimes whilst being lambasted. He has been absolutely pivotal in getting those voices heard at the very heart of the club. They knew we didn't want Flitcroft anymore but they didn't understand the depth of feeling. Matt worked tirelessly to ensure that message was delivered for us. We owe it to Matt to get behind any initiatives he has to improve communication and to engage fans. I know that some are still angry that the club let it get this far. However, let's draw a line under that now and try to move forward, even if we end up going backwards this season, we still have the opportunity to build it better going forward. UTV.

  23. Sad state of affairs tbh and I'm gutted it hasn't worked for him as he's a human being and he tried, but if it ain't good enough it ain't good enough. I believe he had the best interests of the club at heart but unfortunately was way off the mark with what was needed. I wonder how much influence the gaffer had in all of this. Cheers for Wembley Dave, amazing day and memories and sorry it's not worked out as planned. UTV [emoji123]

  24. Mr Flitcroft look at the Notts County forward Jatta, signed from Viborg on the last day of the transfer window, only came into the first team last week, he’s already got three goals, yes three, just shows players are out there if you are bothered, on top of Jatta they have Langstaff and McGoldrick, wow compared to our blunt force of strikers. Why oh why won’t we sign decent Players?

  25. Don't worry. Flitcroft always worked "three windows in advance". So we'll have loads of players lined up...

  27. Really good dogged performance. Every single player put a shift in. Loft was superb over the 90 minutes other than that atrocious miss. Isnt it amazing when the meddling piece of <ovf censored> in Flitcroft gets relieved of his duties. The cancer in the club has gone. Hope.

  29. Whilst I don’t believe we have the most talented bunch of players, I can’t help but think that the unrest and decision making behind the scenes has probably affected performances on the pitch. If every person in the stands knew we needed a striker and a wing back then surely every member of the playing staff did too. The lack of decent signings can only show a lack of ambition and as such must affect the players. I strongly suspect that everyone within the club thought Flitcroft was a <ovf censored> apart from Carol. If Ojo was capable of pelting up almost the whole length of the pitch to score at Charlton, he can do it again on Saturday. There are other players who have been under performing and need to play with belief and desire. Whilst Carol’s image has been slightly tarnished, I do believe she can take us to better places although goodwill tend to have a shelf life.

  35. No he didn't,he had 2 players on the line so for me it was perfectly blasted into the roof of the net.... that should hopefully give him much needed confidence going into the last 8 games and also give him breathing space from the fans which will also help him imo A MASSIVE well done Lofty lad

  36. Well worth the trip over! After last year's visit to Accrington I saw a world of difference in yesterday's performance. It wasn't pretty first half but I've seen us cave this season under that kind of pressure. They were a big outfit and we repelled all boarders at those long throws and free kicks. Second half there was only one team trying to play football but i thought it was going to be one of them days when Ben's header thumped the post in front of us. Credit to 'em though and the goal was after brilliant work from Lofty in different ways. Again, when Blackman,(how big is he?) got a touch on Chizzy's shot and it trickled against the post I thought we'd shot it but Loft, Loft will tear you apart again. Cue limbs around me and at 66 my bad knees and hip just about stood up to it! Thought Loft was excellent all game....not the most accomplished of centre forwards I've ever seen but looks like he may be settling in. I've seen where people said he nearly missed the goal...he didn't. It was right in front of me and he had to get it up and over the bodies throwing themselves at him. Good finish I thought. i thought he'd done everything right first half but seemed to just roll it the wrong side of the post. Oh well, onwards and upwards with that effort and never say die defending.......doctor, there's still a pulse. Off to get flight home but i'll be there in spirit on iFollow on Friday. SVA

  37. Loft has had a pretty dismal season but it’s not been down to a lack of effort. That’s why a lot of the criticism has been harsh and unnecessary, including the comments on Thursday.

  38. Should Loft have scored yes but beyond that he’s done a decent job for us so I think it’s really off some of these comments quite frankly. We’re in the game at least and hopefully should have the wind second half. Quick request to the team in future right on half time just boot it clear and not try some intricate move off a goal kick. That could have made things very different.

  39. Upon reflection I don't think the tenure of Flitcroft has been as bad as many make out given his role. The recruitment side obviously cost him his job. Initially his recruitment was good, although we were a relatively high payer (not the highest) in league 2. Particularly in the Jan 24 window my gut reaction is he was setting his sights too high, certainly for centreforward and possibly at leftback. What we needed was league 1 ready players to keep us up, not championship ready players. The summer window was mainly poor due to a lack of strikers. I know people will fire back that we recruited Loft but it's also true we missed out on a number of targets before we recruited Loft. Yes there were positive comments about Loft when he signed; but you don't sign someone and say I'm really pleased to sign my 10th choice centreforward. How much missing players was due to budget, wage structure and a lack of realism is conjecture but there were decent (not top) league 1/2 strikers within our budget. Someone like Joe Ironside wouldn't have been a promotion striker BUT we would have been a much better team with him in the squad. That striker failure has largely been responsible for where we are. We showed early in the season we could be competitive in the league but the lack of goals meant pressure on the defence and defenders who looked reasonably solid at this level for 3 months post Barnsley away have one by one turned into rabbits in the headlights. Where he certainly deserves credit is the way he has integrated the academy into the first team. I know there are strong supporters of Sevvy and that many of the youngsters coming through were recruited pre Shanahans. The truth remains young players were not coming through before Flitcroft. They are now. Whether that could have been achieved without sacking some of the existing staff is a different question. He should take some credit for aligning the youth development and the first team, even if it could have been achieved in a different manner. Going forward the challenge is can we maintain the progress of the academy with new management in place at the same time as improving recruitment and performance of the first team. If we are to be sustainable and progress I personally feel the academy is probably more important in the long-term than the first team. The Rudge model got shut down by Bosman. For a club of our size there is the potential fairy godmother / godfather model but this is far from guaranteed. There is the yoyo league 1/2 model which is performing in line with attendance. Or there is the academy model. If we are going to stick with the academy model is Moore a manager brave enough to give youth it's chance? There is also the question of does our fanbase have the patience? Micky Adams certainly didn't think so. My own view is pre Rudge glory year supporters are probably a bit more sanguine about things than supporters from the mid 80s to late 90s. If you followed the club in the late 70s you really experienced dire. If we are going to keep with the academy we probably also need to replace Flitcroft to try and maintain a consistent approach at all levels in the club. If not then I suspect we will end up as the yoyo club as we have spent most of our history, praying for a fairy godmother to come along.

  41. Great news for the club but I'm still confused as to how some folk think it will turn the team into a bunch of fighters & good enough to stay up ?? This squad is awful and DF leaving won't make any difference to that. We can only hope we rebuild well next season UTV !!

  42. You are conflating multiple things. I would not say that she is either without blame (although using the word blame in itself is revealing), nor immune from criticism. Mistakes have been made. Bad decisions look likely to cost us our League 1 place. That is obviously hugely disappointing. But in context, we are still light years ahead of where we were 4 years ago. No-one wants to be in League 2. The next DoF appointment is key. We have to try and get back up at the first try, which will be challenging. But thinking that having a local, successful businessperson who is also a proper fan is NOT the ideal custodian, is genuinely a crazy perspective. So what if she makes bad decisions sometimes? She's not likely to be perfect. If she can explain them, or front up, or apologise, then that's more than most would do anyway. How many owners of clubs are actually 'good' owners? Our natural ceiling is halfway up League 1. Anything higher is great, but it's overachievement. When she talked about it, she was laughed out of the room. Then she referenced little Port Vale, and got pelters. So she can't win really. I'm not happy with where we are. But we should be happy with the ownership, despite the shemozzle of the season.

  45. Just bought my ticket. Could do with Barnsley beating Cambridge, us beating The Gas, Wigan stuffing Burton, Peterborough beating Carlisle and Cheltenham-Fleetwood drawing. If we put in another good shift and work hard for each other, I dont care if Loft scores a hat trick where they all go in off his arse - and we get the results above it will start to make others very nervous.

  46. So pleased for Ryan Loft. The chance he missed he did everything right apart from score, sprinted away from the defender, got the ball under control, got his body shape right and steadied himself but just put it wide, I thought it had gone in. He continually plugged away and fought for every ball. In the breakaway that led to Vale's goal, he made himself available for Chisslet's pass, gave it Chissy back with Chislett in a better position to score and stayed with the attack. When the ball came back off the post he fired it high into the net as their defender slid in and could've blocked it had the ball been along the ground. Hope this raises his confidence levels and he scores a few which keeps us up.
