  1. Agree! And the professionalism comes from the very top - Carol and Kevin! Those delusionals on here who suggested Carol had had her head turned by a chancer, and been overly-impressed by techno-babble and a snake oil salesman really ought to be coming on here and issuing grovelling apologies for doubting her knowledge, experience and integrity!

  2. Its really pleasing to have players who want to play for us ! Players who want to do it for the fans. Our club after years in the doldrums have owners with vision and passion. Oh so good to be a Vale fan at the moment after so many embarrassing performances where you felt like crawling under a stone.

  3. Let’s hope this record at Crawley doesn’t go like the Scunthorpe/Swindon/Rochdale/Opening Day runs have! They seem to be out of form so would expect us to be heavy favourites. Win this we will have the points we had at the half way point last season already! Would be great to go into the cup break in the auto spots with another positive result.

  5. I went to Wycombe on Saturday, as it’s a local game for me. We played really well, but Wycombe are a very physical side, who were just launching the ball into our box for the last ten minutes. The referee was awful, probably the worst I have seen for a number of years. I have to say though that the Wycombe fans were very friendly, they had a marquee in the car park open to home and away fans with a bar, live music and a big screen to watch Norwich getting hammered at Chelsea. The beer was local from the Rebellion Brewery in Marlow.

  7. Nobody’s mentioned how good the third goal was and would say the Vale coach would be pleased with it. Straight off the training pitch, Wilson near post then as corner taken spins off and takes defender with him leaving a big gap for someone( Martin) to run in and flick the ball over, if it hadn’t gone in the net Wilson was there for a tap in. Well worked routine

  8. As an expat living in Finland, we have trust here in the political system. When I compare with those in the UK, frankly British politicians are embarrassing. Unfortunately there is a lot of money in UK politics and I suspect this is the root cause, in that politicians will say and do anything to get a slice of that rather big pie. Unfortunately, after so many decades of this kind of lying culture, the people get apathetic towards it, which of course just serves to make things worse. I feel that if you take the money out of politics, not that it would ever happen of course, then you'll take out most if not all of those that have made a living out of it by simply telling whoppers.

  9. Team is going well, club is on the up, I really see no need to reduce prices to that level at the moment. Even if the reduction attracts a few extra people we ll lose money over a more "standard" price...... 4000 @ £10 is less income than 3000 @ £20.... For me I would like the club sold in a more positive light than having to reduce entrance costs for 1st round FA cup game against opposition from a league higher to non league club levels.... Cambridge City v Kidsgrove in the Buildbase FA Trophy is £10 admission... I think these reductions in cost to these kind of levels sends out the wrong message. Lets sell ourselves as a vibrant, forward looking, attractive club which isnt desperate for money any more... supporting a football club is a commitment and we shouldn't be seen to be that desperate for support that we have to reduce entrance prices to non league levels.

  10. Well, they are my club, so that will be the case until I die, but I accept that for the smaller clubs you just have to enjoy the good times and accept that the club will go through bad times as well, on and off the pitch. I saw the highlights of your defeat at Sutton and the long throws were causing you problems, but then you get quite a few Route 1 clubs at this level. I think you will go up this season, either automatically or via the play offs. Good to see you have good people running the club. My son is at Keele University now, so has been able to get to a couple of Alex matches. He went into a pub in Newcastle wearing a Crewe shirt and got some funny looks!! I’m pleased Bowler has gone and we now have a new chairman who seems more in tune with a need to make amends for the awful things that happened at the club 30 years ago. As for Artell, I can see how he winds people up, but he’s done a good job over the last 3-4 years, but he’s got a long winter ahead of him.

  11. Does anyone know if there's a way of following how the u21s are getting on? I see a lot of post by the players themselves, but I can't seem to find who they are playing, how they went on etc. It's a shame the club don't run an academy twitter account similar to other clubs.

  12. He turned Leeds down at Rovers so if he’s happy and in a good project DC seems the type to stick with it. We prized him away from Walsall because they were selling his best players so a different situation so hopeful we can enjoy the completion of his project. Plus we know we have great owners and one of the leagues top budgets so imagine he will feel he is backed enough that if we go up he will be given decent enough tools financially to keep us comfortable (compared to maybe similar sized clubs at that level such). I’d love us to go up and see how this management team and structure did in L1 with giants like Ipswich, Charlton (May pass them though), Bolton, Derby possibly, Portsmouth etc. If Wycombe or Rotherham can be in there with clubs like that and be real challengers there is absolutely no reason the project could see us do the same under right management and ownership and believe we have those two in place.

  13. It would have to be club-changing money to let DC go elsewhere. His skills and Carol’s generosity combined is a recipe for years of incremental success, so don’t give it up!

  14. I m not sure there are many players signed by championship teams from league 2…. There is quite a gap in standard. Anyone with championship pretentious probably needs a good season in league 1 first…. If we do t go up though we would leave ourselves open to bids from league 1 clubs. i m sure the manager will move on at some point but he s not daft… a promotion on his cv with us would be his first priority then reassess when we’re in league 1. When he leaves it will be the real test of the Director of Football model to transfer seamlessly to a new manager like Brentford. Anyway that’s all in the future let’s enjoy this season for now…. We bloody deserve it !

  15. And possibly Gibbons and Conlon and Rodney...such is the price of success if you're a L2 club. Hope we stay tough and say NOTHING doing during the season, come back in May if you're still interested!

  16. Crewe supporters don't seem that bothered by relegation, they have 9 posts on their forum on the subject, I should imagine OVF would be in meltdown if the Vale were 6 points adrift at this stage of the season.

  17. I think DC could make changes. I like the way he does it, keeps everyone on their toes and the opposition guessing.

  18. I don't think that's right. I think practically all remainers accept the result but they don't like it. If you're one of those that moaned about The EU all those years then I think it's a bit rich to complain about Pro EU people moaning about Brexit.

  19. Genuinely happy to be corrected by Phil, but I remember Gary Roberts saying Crewe wouldn't sell him (I believe to Cardiff) as the fee wasn't high enough to ensure Dario got a good piece of the pie. It may be absolutely rubbish, but eventually the business model of 'invest heavy in academy, produce great players, sell them to invest heavy in academy, repeat' has to get a bit tedious? I understand the sustainability and the 'morally good' side of doing it, but as a Crewe fan I'd get worn down by the futility of it all.

  21. Yes, it was great to see those local lads - and we have Ellis Jones and Eden Baily to come. What a day when Eden makes his league debut, especially as his grandad played for us all those years ago.

  22. Great three points, yet again. I’m really starting to believe this side can genuinely challenge for automatic promotion. Not one player yesterday had a bad game - everyone was at least 7/10, which is a real pleasing sign. For me, Gibbons was MOTM. What a 90 minutes that lad had. Wilson wasn’t far behind, what a signing this lad could turn out to be - he’s technically levels above anything we’ve seen in years. 7 points out of 9 in a week is a fantastic return. The point at Mansfield is a great point now when you consider how disappointing we were - that’s a sign of a real good football team. Long may it continue, it’s a real joy to be a part of currently.

  23. I'd absolutely love it if we could sign Politic. He's a talented maverick. The fans seems to have taken to him already. I was a little concerned we didn't have that 'special' player at the start of the season, someone that can turn a game with individual brilliance, like JMW used to do in our promotion season. But he just looks a bit "too good" for L2 sometimes and looks like that player!

  24. The trouble with Phil is that he asks the same questions every week and DC seems to have had enough.I don't know how many times DC has to say that his team takes each game as it comes and it's always the next game that counts. It gets a bit boring at times Phil, please find some different and more interesting questions.

  26. Anybody hear Clarkey on RS . He really gives it to Mr Bowers . As soon as Bowers mentioned how poor Colchester were first half Clarke bit his head off saying that is because we need credit for it. I'm not bothered about Colchester !! Brilliant Clarkey neither am I.

  27. "Fan" is someone who supports the team. You don't boo our Port Vale players before they've kicked a ball whether you agree with the knee or not.

  31. Nothing against you as an individual, mate, but your club should no longer exist. It’s success has been built on abuse and has shown no contrition.

  34. Oh god! The modellers are now saying that we could be down to 5000 cases a day by Christmas. With their previous high levels of accuracy I'm now betting on a 10 year lockdown to squash the sombrero. I'm going to order 10,000 masks off Amazon and book in for my next 15 jabs just to be extra safe. I'd also better order some tinned food in. Stay safe everyone.
