  1. Funny how simply stating a fact becomes a twisted stat so far as pope is concerned

  2. Similar to what I think he’ll go for. However, based on JA saying ‘Monty is fine, he’s back in training Monday’ and Robinson seemingly a little bit behind the rest fitness wise, I think he’ll go with the below. Brown Mills Legge Smith Monty Burgess Joyce Conlon Worrall Rodney Amoo I also think he’ll play the others who miss out on this one in the FL trophy. Gives everyone a chance to stake their claim for the first league match.

  3. I reckon that a bit harsh... he had a long successful none league career and then joined a club in the championship which was probably a level too far. he has had 2 successful Spells in our league at Lincoln. Both Ipswich and Lincoln fans say on their respective forums they would like him to sign next year. Clearly has had some success playing for Askey and would be an excellent signing if we managed it. Interestingly, as well as out wide Lincoln deployed him through the middle as an advanced attacking mid and reckon he played very well there.

  4. I do think Robinson has been earmarked as our number one striker

  5. Theo looked like he'd just arrived and hasn't had the benefit of a full pre season. He also had alot of chasing down, as Rochdale played it out from the back. So a tough day for him. Rodney both looks raw and with lots of desirable attributes. He looked desperate to take a penalty. A goal could make a big difference. He did ok playing wide, but looked better down the middle. Cullen came in and did a job last season. Seems to be able to get straight into it, so that's hopeful. Having four, very different strikers is really useful. I suspect there will be lots of different combina

  6. I know some people go straight into the PV Present forum section (and may miss the promos I have posted) so I wanted to post it in here for you folks. The FREE OVF prediction league for the new season is now open. More details on how to play are here - https://www.onevalefan.co.uk/2020/08/play-our-free-port-vale-prediction-leagues/

  8. I didn’t mean it to sound so harsh, more as a observation in the current climate that with no club and not that many EFL appearances under his belt that it may be hard at his age to get back to where he wants to be.

  9. I've got a feeling Whitehead will start over Burgess I agree - but not sure it's the right decision. We will see.

  10. I must have dreamt the Morecambe home game then, could swear both Pope's goals were from open play that day?

  11. I didn't realise he played at at Stockport in the league. I'd added up the Lincoln and Ipswich games and then typed in just the Ipswich ones. Just had a look on soccerbase and there are not many starts in that number. To be fair I think he did quite well at Lincoln.

  12. Just so I'm clear. It's perfectly ok for somebody to say that Pope scored 11 last season but it's not ok for somebody to add a bit of context to the basic statistic?

  13. Funny how simply stating a fact becomes a twisted stat so far as pope is concerned Lets not play the victim eh.... you know what you were doing there by dissecting a previous point on the number of goals to pick out a negative in there, so let’s not pretend you weren’t doing anything else but taking a positive and turning it into a dig.

  14. What a nice headache for JA. He has three proven L2 forwards and an one unknown forward with youth enthusiasm. With injuries and suspensions this means that we should always be able to select a decent forward to start a game. Sounds a lot better than a few of the last seasons with exception of last season.

  15. That's the gamble with using a press at any level. What you need to do to deploy an effective press automatically leaves you men down in more defensive positions.

  17. As i said it would always be cullen but his fitness wont allow that, you cant seriously go off friendlies you would have seen Theo in considering we would of only seen the rochdale one when yes he did little but he had no service and nobody stood out in that first half, his first friendly resulted in him scoring yet none of us could watch that game so cant judge. I really do think Theo will surprise a few IF given the time to do so

  18. He's not pope of course Pope will be 4th choice this season.

  19. I personally don’t think Robinson will start Saturday. Looked a little bit off from being match fit if the Rochdale is anything to go buy.

  21. He's not pope of course Ah i get you 🙂 Sadly for some(and i am a big pope fan) he wont be first choice next season,my thoughts are Robinson will be number one striker(as maynard would have been) then its between rodney and cullen for starts, would always be cullen but his injury record is a problem all 3 of Robinson,Cullen and Rodney can play anywhere in a front 3. Pope is fantastic to have on the bench and come on for some rough and tumble last 20 minutes.

  23. You are right. It's a super effort and still a few hours to go before the early bird deadline. There must, sadly, be a few folk who don't want to return just yet, especially the elderly and those with serious health problems, so to sell so many is indeed testament to the feel good atmosphere that the new owners have engendered in a very short space of time. But, football fans are a fickle bunch and we'll hit bumps in the road. It's not all plain sailing. Be interesting to see what the total is by the end of the day. 3,500 would be very good indeed. There is latent support o

  24. Basing the side on those that missed out due to injury I think we'll start with: Brown Mills / Legge / Smith / Fitzpatrick Burgess / Joyce / Conlon Worrall / Robinson / Amoo

  28. Disappointed Rhys has left. I thought he was a good alternative on either wing in terms of his style vs the pace and constant running of Wozza. Goodluck to him. I will be Interested to see if we go for a like for like replacement or we find creative solution - use Monty as pushing Wozza & Ammo instead and perhaps look for a more inventive midfielder .It also makes me wonder if JA knew it was going to happen hence the Fitzpatrick signing earlier in the week.
