  1. Having watched the game back again its a game we could easily have got a draw from, with Pope and Amoo missing pretty guilt edge chances. They clearly had a little more quality. Both teams set up the same way, although Blackpool played with 3 attackers whereas we really used one striker and 2 wingers. Maybe Askey is looking to refine that with his comments on Rodney being able to play in a 3 but to one side when he signed them. Northampton played with a 3 during the playoffs where the three were inter-changeable to a degree. If he is it may count against Pope a little as you can't really

  2. If you put burgess and rodney in that first half team instead of pope and beckford we would of seen a different result same could be said for Hamilton with Blackpool. But the idea of friendlies is a run out not the result. I personally think playing higher league teams and having a result like yesterday is more beneficial than playing Newcastle town

  3. Saw it on the official website, ticket office now open 9-5 weekdays, and I think 9-3 Saturday.

  4. The fact that FA Cup replays have been scrapped for the coming season and prize money reduced to 2017/18 levels won't help lower league clubs either.

  6. Your last sentence couldn't be more wrong. You've obviously never played competitive football. Even pub teams try to arrange a few friendlies prior to any new season. The reason for staging them is as part of the build up before the season proper, anyone whos's played football at any level will tell you that. Friendlies are not aimed at the fans, and earning extra reveue, that's secondary, rather they're a step up, from the squad training together to a more competitive level. The bearing it will have, as you point out, will be on fitness, but also sharpness, touch and team tactics. It allo

Nothing to be gained apart from looking at a trialist or 2, trying different players in the formation to see where they might fit, getting some match fitness, getting some match sharpness, possibly trying a new formation, giving the new lads a chance to bed in with their team mates in an actual game.

  8. For me, the fourth striker signing is now looking crucial. With Pope out for six games and Cullen's injury history, it's going to be asking an awful lot for Rodney to come in and immediately be the first choice striker. He's shown glimpses but it may take him a little while to adapt from non-league to League Two. I'd say we really need an experienced and fit fourth choice. p.s is Fitzpatrick very one-paced or is the pace of the Blackpool forwards making him look slow?

  10. I'm glad that you enjoyed my grandads books, he absolutely adored the vale. Even after he left the vale he never truly left he always visited and I enjoyed going along with him from time to time. Writing was his number 1 passion so I'm glad to see that people enjoyed his stories and books.

  11. I have to agree with the demand to abolish parachute payments. They are an absolute scandal. If Premier League clubs want to pay inflated wages then then they must do so in the knowledge that they must plan for the consequences of relegation. Rewarding failure is ridiculous. Each season the Premier League hands over £45 million each to the three relegated clubs, another £34 million each to the teams who had been relegated the year before and £15 million each to the ones the season before that. In total that amounts to £282 million pounds to clubs who have failed. Since their relegation,
