Tbf Phil was having a pop as he was told about turning the transfer thread off topic,so he was just being a bit of a twonk.... my comment was to do with transfers and the young lads we were looking at on trial but a new thread is fine by me i wont run to teacher about it

I got a report from someone who watched training today, Beckford showed some glimpses of there being a player in there... chased down Zach Mills won the ball (showing pace) then found Joyce for a lovely finish to the bottom corner, then shortly after charged Brisley down, out muscled him before finishing himself. Granted it was only a practice match to finish the session, be certainly showed potential for a Midfielder. Interestingly however, he left immediately after training without getting changed. It will be interesting to see if he plays tomorrow.

I won’t be judging players in pre-season matches, however I am looking forward to getting a glimpse of Rodney. All the sounds coming out of the club suggest he is one to watch this season. JA said today he has a lot of pace & strength and has looked good in training. Fingers crossed we have unearthed one 🤞💪

I'm reverting back to how we covered games in the pre-Covid times and each friendly will have its own dedicated match thread. i believe there’s a little bit of a shake up within the coaching department in the academy this year. David Worrall and Leon Legge will be coaching in the youth teams apparently. great news for our young crop of players to be working with such experienced players

Mates with Legge from Cambridge, despite him being ex-Macc he's never played for Askey. Might just be a mates thing, might not. Of a good age and looked decent against us last year. Would question where he'd play tbh.

It's already been said before, but there are too many well established and better funded academies in our local area and/or within radius. We need to look at how we can be smarter. There has been an orthodoxy about youth development in football that is slowly starting to be challenged. I'm not saying we should necessarily go down the same road as Huddersfield and Brentford, but they're interesting case studies. I don't know how much it costs to run the academy but if you're getting your best players poached at 16 for boss all under the EPPP then you have to start questioning what is
