  1. Past hour
  2. I think you are spot on. The problem with placing under performing players on the transfer list is you can't really replace them until they move. The seasons we've listed a few players have tended to end badly. Having 3 or 4 unhappy players inside the club doesn't seem to end well in general. Short-term the focus needs to be replacing what we can. We must have spent a reasonable amount on the loans, so there's some money there. They also need to revisit the quality to quantity argument. Last season there was a lack of quality, yet when injuries hit there was a lack of quantity. My own opinion is our best 11 was good enough to stay up. 2 or 3 injuries and we were miles off. I don't think we had more than average injuries.
  3. So what are you saying all the managers who played him are wrong ? Been going to Vale since 1969 and watched them on 86 grounds but I also have mates/relations who are Stoke fans if that's ok with you. It is a forum and you are allowed a opinion and so am I about the crap you post.
  4. Sang is a serial ball watcher whose lack of pace and defensive awareness has cost a goal a game over recent weeks. Opposition managers target him every week as the weakest link in our defence. His only contribution in the other half seems to be to lob a sort of cross field chip from just past the halfway line down the centre halves throat. Sang is in my opinion one of our worst performers of the season. The fact that he replaced Dave Worral says it all about Flitcroft’s transfer policy.
  5. Won't be laughing when in national league . Football is a game of opinions Alfie (same name as my cat),400 games or not when you struggle pass 5 yards how do you ever think Vale can play a game full of attacking intent . Yes he is a old fashioned head and kick it player he is quite good at that if defending all game ,it's a boring watch though , however we are second bottom of league one -33 goal difference and he is the captain of a team who showed little to no motivation majority of last 2 league 1 campaigns ,so for that and I know for a fact he hang 's around with Stoke City fans I ain't got the time of day for him if that's OK with you . You are entitled to your view though and I'm glad you think he is acceptable as you will continue to watch him I won't I've seen enough in his 400 games thanks
  6. Think people will be disappointed by the retained list. There just isn’t much room for manoeuvre. I can see absolute hell up on Monday morning. I don’t think we will ‘pay off’ anyone - a potential waste of money if someone is willing to loan them/take on most of their wages later on. It’s hundreds of thousands of pounds up front, to pay off the number of players some are calling for. I think Massey and Wilson will be released, the loanees sent back, Uche and Wynne offered terms (which Uche will reject), and maybe 3-4 put on a transfer list. I’m not for one second saying I’m happy with any of this, just a prediction. Like it or lump it, I think 15ish of this squad will be here next season, including Sang, Loft, and the other maligned lads.
  7. I remember it being said that our policy was to go for Quality rather than Quantity. Did I miss something ? Ok we all know strikers aren't cheap especially ones who actually do their day job and score goals. Every team wants a 15/20 goal a season striker and they attract a wage premium. Surely the combined wages of Uche and Loft could have being better spent on the wages of 1 quality striker whose goal return might have made the crucial difference between relegation and staying up.
  8. Today
  9. He has had a chance was was rubbish there. And at other times we’ve desperately needed another midfielder and he hasnt been trusted there. If we are going into next season with the idea that sang will be one of our centre mids then we are in trouble.
  10. Prem teams already sniffing including L’pool and Newcastle.
  11. After Port Vale’s relegation was confirmed last weekend, this game is now a dead rubber for the home side although the visitors are still in slight danger of going down. Here’s our preview… Preamble It’s likely to be a downbeat atmosphere for Vale’s final game of the season after relegation was confirmed. Here at OVF […] The post Port Vale v Cambridge Utd preview – a farewell to League One but for how long? appeared first on onevalefan.co.uk. View the full article
  12. Who said Uche was any good overall he hasn't being any good . It's hard say who has been good Chislett Garrity Dipepa . Shorrock in one game v Barnsley second half and whole game v Bpool Walters in league cup but not in any league game though he was ok v Wycombe in terms of he can pass to one of his own players . They have being a truly unmotivated bunch of bottle jobs in the main. Most of them are in contract Enjoy next season Mr Beech cause I rarely be there so in all I dont really care anymore , apathetic whatever you call it my love for Vale evaporated because of this years useless squad. I've seen enough 32 years of mostly rubbish. Our fans are accepting of any old crap . Worst team I've seen in my life for fighting when needed too . I believe they had a punch up on coach ,well its a bit late for fighting when you got my club who I have loved for years relegated No wish to argue with you or anyone else fella . You like who you want like . Me I'll say what I see and to be honest I've seen enough
  13. Seemed a lovely lad and great player! Wish him all the best. Nice to see him at the Vale v Wycombe game last Tuesday!
  14. After this seasons fare that's been dished out I'm not going to miss I follow to much, I'll pick my matches im coming back to watch a vale park ...in the word's of Bobby Brown it's my prerogative 😂
  15. It doesn't matter what went before.. Smiths poor form has been a major contribution to the relegation campaign... Carry on happy clapping.
  16. I think you are right to be worried . Just hope after 5 years the penny has finally dropped .
  17. He hasn't played the whole season being shoehorned in at RWB, he's played a few times in central midfield. He's just been poor when he's had the opportunity. His best game by far was as a right centrehalf. Despite someone recently changing his Wikipedia page Sang has played over 75% of his games at rightback or right wingback. Initially I had thought his problem in midfield and on the right was a lack of pace. He actually isn't that slow running forward. He is that slow running backwards in defence. He also just doesn't read the game defensively in either position. Whatever decisions he makes defensively end up being wrong. His general passing is just hit and miss. His only attribute this season has been his crossing at times. He'll still he here next season but he's in danger of falling out of the league for good thereafter. He's never held a regular position at either of his loans, Cardiff or with Vale. He's 25 in a couple of weeks and should now be at his peak. With the exception of the one game at right centrehalf his peak has looked several leagues below league 2.
  18. I am 82 now, supported Vale since 1953, when I could see the Vale Floodlights from my bedroom window, in Minster Street, Burslem - Now an Exile, I live Near Reading, I can't Travel Now, I've subscribed to the iFollow/Radio Stoke Commentaries, To listen to all the Vale matches - IF they Finish ? - SKY SPORT can Stick Their Offering Where The Sun Doesn't SHINE ! ! - I Detest THEM ! - WHY Can't BBC Radio Stoke Allow the Matches to be heard ONLINE Outside Their Local Radius ? It would benefit both UK and Overseas Exiles? - AND I am Subscribing to The BBC Licence ' TAX,' That is helping ' Crisp Brain Gary Lineker ' to maintain His Opulent Life Style !
  19. Good player is Arblaster, hope he goes from strength to strength, at least Vale played a small part in his development. On the other side of the coin it's surprising how little effect Gore, Weir, Mighten and Lopata had on Vale's fortunes since January. Injury played some part but Gore and Mighten looked good on paper but footie isn't played on paper, Weir had played 40 odd games in Lge 1 for Morecambe and scored 10 goals, he looked a player at times but wasn't consistent, similar for Lopata.
  20. I agree on all except Sang who had a whole season being shoehorned in right back / wing back /centre half and he a midfielder. He deserves at chance in midfield as he done what’s asked of him in a strange positions
  21. Chislett and Garrity probably won't play as they probably already indicated they want off planet Vale. Loft probably will play, score, then put in a transfer request. That's what the club are dealing with.
  22. Smith as been poor this season in a lot of games. Not just him and only a few come out with any credit. But you constantly berate him and you can barely write a post without mentioning him, it's obsessive. He did not make himself captain. Played 400 games under different managers who just may know there football a tad better than you. Folk actually find you funny, laughing at you not with you.
  23. But there were a few posters on OVF who wanted to sign him as Rob says so it wasn't just hindsight. When he was at Vale Taylor was like a wasp, in your face, he was just trouble for the opposition and a goal scorer. To be balanced Vale could also have done with keeping a few out at the other end!! It's all water under the bridge now.
  24. Do we not send players out on loan for players and our benefit. Some work out some don't. The quality of player we will get depends on our league status and reputation, all clubs do it. Players cost whether loan or not, all are a risk, irrespective of money. Main thing is to have a balanced squad with ample cover. Sent from my SM-A715F using onevalefan mobile app
