Port Vale manager Darren Moore’s press conference – “the week’s been good”
Port Vale manager Darren Moore was questioned on a wide range of issues ahead of Port Vale’s home game against Chesterfield on Saturday.
The Valiants manager spoke to the local media team and here’s what he had to say…
On having a free week after Newport
“The week’s been good. It’s a nice feel good factor for the players and the week gives them time to get in amongst each other and the volume in training. You can work on different dynamics. I think volume is really good for some of the group. The group has worked extremely well…”
On group unity
“They’ve come a long way in a short space of time. We feel pretty happy where they are. There’s still a long way to go with some of them but we are pushing every day…”
On taking chances
“We are getting chances. We’ve got the players that if we make opportunities we’ve got the players who will take the chances…”
Picking the right combinations
“I don’t think it’s hard to pick the frontline. We look at the games coming up and the combinations we’ve got and we’ve recruited to present different problems for the opposition. There’s competition all round. That’s what we recruited for. We feel that we’ve got a group of players that are competing to start and they all want to play…”
On Lorent Tolaj
“We felt with Lorent it’s just him settling down. Sometimes it’s just time. He’s finding his feet, he’s looking more powerful and more dynamic. It’s credit to him he’s gone about his business in the right manner. He’s got keen eye for goal but also a good sense of where his fellow players are. There’s more to come from him…”
On Benicio
“It’s his first loan. He’s come out of the academy. He’s got wonderful ability. We’re giving him a platform and the other parts of the game which he needs. We don’t doubt his ability but there’s far more to come from him. We’re really pleased to have him here…”
On the Chesterfield game
“Obviously here at Vale Park we want to win games. We know the task we’ve got is not easy. We’re together as a group. The mindset is to get that home win and really get going. It’s a dfficult game. Paul Cook’s done well and they’ll come here very buoyant. But it’s another game I’m really looking forward to…”

Let’s get 3 points and build our way up the table. We seem to have recruited.better and the players have integrated well. Keep the faith and hopefully Div 1 is not far away
