“We’ve had no offers for any of our players” – Darren Moore speaks to the media

In his weekly press conference, Port Vale manager Darren Moore says that, despite some rumours, the club has not had any offers for players.

On the Diamond Edwards signing

“We’re pleased to get Diamond. He has been training with us all pre-season and showed wonderful signs. What we’ve got to do is get him up to the physical condition where he needs to be and that is going to take some time. He’s got tremendous feet, wonderful balance, creative player and a player who get defenders on the back front. He’s got the ability to unlock defences.”

On the squad size and possible departures

“For us at the moment, we’ve had no offers for any of our players. We wanted to do that (build a bigger squad) to add competition to the team. All of them are vying to start games, to compete against each other which is what we want. We’re happy with the group. Certainly for the younger players we feel that later on in the window there’s one or two loan opportunities for them. Part of their development may be a loan to get that gametime.”

On injuries

“Everyone would like to see Jayden, Chissy, George to name just a few. They are back on the grass which is good. They are just getting that timing right. We’re just monitoring them and looking at the volume they are doing in training. Hopefully, Port Vale supporters will see those players sooner rather than later.”

On any possible additions

“We’re happy with the options. I think we’re covered right across the pitch. We’re looking at getting that group of players all on the same page physically. Even though the numbers are large there are areas where we are short because of the injuries.”

On the Tranmere Rovers match

“We’ve got our first home game of the season. There’s a lot of hope and a lot of impetus in the football club and it’s great the fans are feeling that. We are really looking forward to seeing the fans in the stadium. They can be difficult opponents. We know we’ve got to take the game to them.”
