Support for Mitch Clark and trialists in talks – Darren Moore speaks to the media
In his weekly press conference, Port Vale manager Darren Moore said the club is “fully behind” injured defender Mitch Clark after he suffered a serious injury.
Here are some topics covered in the press conference.
On Mitch Clark’s injury
The defender appears to have suffered a serious injury and Moore commented: “We’ll look after Mitch. Whatever is needed for Mitch at this current time, we as a football club will support him. Our intentions are to get him back fit and well. We’re really gutted to lose him. He came back in pre-season and looked in fabulous condition, so just a little incident but these things happen, football is a contact sport, has led to this injury. With Mitch he can rest assured that we, as a football club, will support him in any direction he’s decided to go. We wish him well on a speedy recovery. I’ve touched base with Mitch and told him that every day that passes now is a day closer to him returning from injury. We’re fully behind him.”
On the right-back slot
Clark’s unfortunate injury does leave Vale short at right-back and Moore added: “Potentially that would be an area that we’re look at. An area where we can potentially look to see who is available. If there are any players available. Just because you’ve lost somebody doesn’t mean there’s anyone available.”
On the trialists
The trialists at the club had their last game on Tuesday and are now awaiting a decision. Moore said: “I can’t really elaborate too much on them because discussions are still ongoing. Talks are ongoing (but) our focus is on the start of the season and after the weekend hopefully we’ll have some news on that.”
