Andy Crosby pays tribute to Port Vale team during “massive mental strain”
Andy Crosby has heaped praise on his players after they stretched their unbeaten run to eight games.
The 2-0 win over Stevenage came despite three games in a week and the loss of manager Darrell Clarke who is on compassionate leave.
It is obviously a massive mental strain at the moment for the whole football club. So, I couldn’t be prouder of the players…
Stand-in Crosby told the media: “It was a massive physical effort. It was our third game in a week and five players have played every minute of the games. It is obviously a massive mental strain at the moment for the whole football club. So, I couldn’t be prouder of the players.
“Harry Charsley came on and ended up playing right wing back. He has never played there in his life but you could see the effort and commitment for the group.
“Yes, it is a really good end to a week where probably the points balance themselves out a little bit.”
