Timely boost – Port Vale attacking options are boosted by loan addition and recoveries from injury
Port Vale manager says his side have had a “timely boost” as the arrival of Ryan Edmondson on loan has coincided with the return from injury of several of the club’s strikers.
The Valiants had resorted to playing midfielder Ben Garrity upfront after injuries to Jamie Proctor, James Wilson, George Lloyd, David Amoo and Devante Rodney left the club without a fit recognised striker.
However, the arrival of Leeds United youngster Edmondson has changed that as has the return from injury of some of the other forwards previously on the sidelines.
With one or two of our attacking options returning from injury it will give us a timely boost…
Clarke didn’t name names or numbers but he told the media: “He (Edmondson) has fitted in great already with the lads and with one or two of our attacking options returning from injury it will give us a timely boost.”
The Vale manager added that the club had carefully researched the signing of Edmondson adding: “Our recruitment team have done the homework on him and he fits the profile of the type player that we were looking for particularly with his presence, mobility and his touch, he will be a great addition to our attacking players.”
However, Vale fans will have to wait to see their first glimpse of Edmondson in action as the former Fleetwood loanee is cup tied for the visit of Brentford in the FA Cup third round this weekend.
