Fresh Jamie Proctor blow adds to Port Vale forward concerns
Port Vale have been dealt a major blow with the news that joint top-scorer Jamie Proctor will require a second operation and could miss another chunk of the season.
Proctor returned to action against Walsall in midweek but a collision with the Saddlers goalkeeper means he will require a second operation and more time on the sidelines. The news is a major blow to Vale who are also missing their other top goalscorer James Wilson, who is out with a broken foot.
Loanee George Lloyd has also been missing in recent weeks with a stomach injury, which has left manager Darrell Clarke with just David Amoo, Devante Rodney and Dennis Politic as forward options.
We are obviously concerned about Jamie and his welfare now. But it is a massive blow to us…
Assistant manager Andy Crosby told the media: “It’s not good news on Jamie. He came back after the hernia operation and was all fine.
“On Tuesday he came in and had a really big impact with the goalkeeper so it’s not good news.
“He will have another operation on Monday. We are not sure yet on timescale, how long he is going to be out for. But it is obviously a big blow to us.
