Wrong to highlight anyone, they are all doing well – Andy Crosby pays tribute to squad
Port Vale assistant manager Andy Crosby has paid tribute to the entire Port Vale squad after their run of three straight wins.
It would probably be wrong for me to highlight anyone and say they are doing great and someone else is not. They are all doing well at the moment…
Speaking to the media, Crosby said that even players not involved in the squad were playing their part. Crosby commented: “I think players who aren’t currently in the starting eleven feel part of it, they still have a role to play whether they are on the bench or, unfortunately for them, haven’t been selected.
“They have been great, their attitude and application on Tuesday in the reserve game was absolutely exemplary. There is no doubt about their work ethic and their desire to do well.”
Crosby feels the atmosphere at the club is good adding: “We’ve all got a role to play. They have to go and implement it when they cross the line on a Saturday because that is what we all get judged on don’t we?
“We check the squad every single day and I haven’t seen any sign of complacency. I see a group of players coming in on a Monday morning who have forgotten about the last Saturday’s game and are ready to go again.”
Asked about the role of goalkeeper Lucas Covolan’s in the side’s five clean sheets, Crosby praised the League newcomer but was keen to stress it was a group effort saying: “He is growing like everyone is but it would probably be wrong for me to highlight anyone and say they are doing great and someone else is not. They are all doing well at the moment but we have played nine games and that is all it is. Things can change suddenly if you take your eye off the ball.
“So, credit to the lads. Monday to Friday, there is no wavering in their mentality and they are looking forward to Saturday’s game.”
