Managed to nick a point – Darrell Clarke on draw with Mansfield Town
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke felt his side were fortunate to secure a draw against Mansfield Town on Tuesday night.
The Valiants took the lead through Tom Conlon but at times had to soak up periods of intense Mansfield pressure as the home side equalised and pushed for a winner.
You’re not going to keep winning and winning, sometimes you have to dig in for that ugly point…
Clarke told the media: “Full credit to Mansfield, I thought they were outstanding on the night. We were nowhere near the standards we have probably set for the majority of the season.
“But you have nights like that where you are not quite at it and you have to make sure you get something in the bag – and we have managed to nick a point.
“They have one or two back and Mansfield are in a false position for me. They have good, talented players and a good, talented manager. We have played them on a night when their fans have got behind them. We were a little bit fortunate for the point but we’ll take it.
“We just take it in the chin, it’s League Two football. We address it, we analyse it and then we have a home game on Saturday so we can turn it into a really positive week.
