Let’s not get carried away – Darrell Clarke after Port Vale win over Harrogate
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke has moved to manage expectations after in-form Port Vale defeated Harrogate Town 2-o on Saturday.
The Valiants secured their first home win of the season and have now lost just once in seven games.
However, Clarke was at pains to make it clear that it was still early days in the season. He told the media: “Let’s not get carried away, we are not even a quarter of the way through the season, it is eight league games so there is lots of work to be done.
“We have sneaked into the top seven now, but it is a long old season and we need to build on that on Saturday.
“I enjoyed the first 50 minutes. If I am honest with you, I didn’t enjoy the rest of the game. I thought we could have had a lot more control and composure and perhaps could have got another couple of goals.
“But certainly for 50 minutes….and they were two great strikes.”
