Former Valiants: Mitch Clark joins Accrington Stanley
Right-back Mitch Clark, who had three loan spells with the Valiants, has joined League One side Accrington Stanley on a free transfer.
The 22 year-old made 55 appearances for the Valiants. He was first signed by Neil Aspin in 2018 and made 40 appearances during a highly successful first loan spell. Clark was released by his parent club Aston Villa at the end of the season but despite a bid from the Valiants he opted to join Leicester City. However, Clark was to return to Vale two more times – both times on loan from Leicester.
A club statement from Leicester City confirmed the move saying:
Leicester City defender Mitchell Clark has signed for Sky Bet League 1 side Accrington Stanley on a free transfer.
The 22-year-old joined City in July 2019 from Aston Villa and has enjoyed numerous loan spells at Port Vale during his time at the Club.
An international with Wales at Under-17s and Under-19s level, Clark made 61 appearances for the League 2 side in all competitions over three loan spells.
He will now link up with John Coleman’s side, who sit fourth in League 1, and are next in action against MK Dons on Saturday 28 August (3pm BST kick-off).
Clark leaves with the best wishes of everyone at Leicester City Football Club.
