A striker with a “different skill set” – Darrell Clarke describes key transfer target
Manager Darrell Clarke says that Port Vale’s main transfer target remains a striker as deadline day approaches.
The Valiants boss has said that another forward has been top of his list for some weeks and he remains determined to add a new man despite several set-backs.
I want a specific sort of different skill set to the centre forwards that I have already got…
Clarke explained: “I have not made any secret, I think we need a centre-forward. But I am not going to ‘squad fill’ it. I missed out on a couple of loans that I went in for and was hoping I was going to get over the line.
“They fell through so I won’t squad fill just for the sake of it. I want a specific sort of different skill set to the centre forwards that I have already got.
“If not, then it will be Amoo, Proctor, Rodney and Wilson fighting it out. I do see David Amoo more as a centre forward now as well.”
Vale have until 11pm on the 31st August to add to their squad before the window shuts. After that date, they will only be able to add free agent players.
