Port Vale captain and manager in monthly awards shortlist
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke and captain Tom Conlon have been shortlisted for April’s League Two manager and player of the month awards.
Both are rewarded for their part in Port Vale’s outstanding form in recent weeks.
Clarke has been nominated alongside Gary Bowyer (Salford City), Michael Duff (Cheltenham Town) and Hayden Mullins (Colchester United). The panel said of Clarke:
This was the month in which Clarke’s impact on Vale following his arrival in February became apparent to all. His side kept five clean sheets and conceded just a single goal as they collected 16 points from six unbeaten matches.
Conlon faces Ben Tozer (Cheltenham Town), Paul Mullin (Cambridge Utd) and Ian Henderson (Salford City) in the shortlist for player of the month. The panel added:
Vale captain and midfield dynamo in a side which swept past all-comers in April, Conlon linked play and contributed three goals and an assist. The centrepiece was an audacious wonder goal struck from near the halfway line in the win at Barrow.
Good luck to both Darrell and Tom. The awards will be announced on Friday.
