Tough run of form continues for Port Vale
There is no doubting the difficult season that Port Vale are seeing, as they continue what is now the fight against relegation in League Two.
The betting markets do still appear to show that they have a better opportunity of staying in the league, but they do really need to find some form, as they continue to struggle throughout in the early period of 2021. The markets do continue to remain popular, alongside many others such as the Premier league, Championship and of course the Euros, with Euro 2021 betting offers being picked up regularly. Moving back to the league and Port Vale have played seven games in January, that resulted in just two victories. These coming via a 3-0 home victory over Grimsby Town, before an impressive 5-1 home win over Southend Utd. However, they were also beaten four times, with one other draw, so overall it was a pretty poor start to the year.
Port Vale really then needed to pick up their form in February, as they continued to battle at the bottom of the table. It was a short period, where the side played just four matches but failed to win any of them. This started with a 3-1 away loss to Tranmere, before a 1-1 draw against Leyton Orient. They were then hoping to return to winning ways but again picked up a 0-0 draw against Stevenage, before a further 1-0 away loss to Cambridge United. It was a frustrating period for the side, who will feel they could have got something from a number of the games. One example being the home draw against Stevenage, with each side struggling to create any big chances at Vale Park.
Moving into March and Port Vale really needed to change their run of form. First up was a fixture against Salford City and it resulted in another frustrating loss, with the match finishing 1-0. They then followed this up with another 3-2 away loss against Cheltenham. It was a close game and considering Cheltenham are top of the league, it shows how well Port Vale can perform on their day. Back at home and Port Vale picked up another point with a 0-0 draw against Oldham Athletic.
It could really be a completely different story for the side this season, as virtually every single match seems to be finishing with them losing out by just a goal in what are close matches. Vale will now be hoping to turn some of these positive performances into some wins and push up the table and out of the relegation battle.
