Rumour: will Colchester Utd make a move for Theo Robinson?
Local media suggest that League Two rivals Colchester United could be interested in Port Vale’s transfer listed striker Theo Robinson.
Robinson joined the Valiants on a two year deal in the summer but has now been deregistered from the Vale’s League squad following the arrival of fellow forward Kurtis Guthrie. The move was to ensure that Port Vale comply with new limits on the number of players aged over 21 in their squad.
Caretaker manager Danny Pugh has indicated that Robinson along with winger Harry McKirdy are free to leave the club telling the Staffordshire Sentinel: “If the right offers came along, there could be chances for a couple to maybe move on.”
According to the Essex Daily Gazette, Colchester are in the market for a striker following the exit of Luke Norris and could target Robinson. Colchester head coach Steve Ball told the newspaper: “We’re in the market for a striker and possibly others.”
Robinson scored 12 goals while on loan with Colchester United during the 2019-20 season, helping them reach the play-offs under John McGreal.
