Port Vale’s last five non-league FA Cup opponents
Ahead of the visit of Kings Lynn Town in the FA Cup first round, we look back at the last five times Port Vale faced non-league opponents in the FA Cup…
Maidenhead United 2015
Vale’s last encounter with non-league opponents was a bit of a nail biter. The two sides met in the first round and the Valiants though Byron Moore’s 34th minute goal was enough to see them through only for their opponents to level in the fourth minute of stoppage time. The replay was shown live on TV but Vale made short work of their opponents as they recovered from an early Massey goal to win 3-1 thanks to a double from AJ Leitch-Smith (pictured) and another from Michael O’Connor.

Salisbury City 2013
The Valiants were pitched at home against Salisbury in the second round of the 2013-14 competition. However, it was a largely one-sided affair with Vale triumphing 4-1 thanks to goals from Chris Robertson, Tom Pope (pictured), Rob Taylor and Ben Williamson.
Result: won at home
Shortwood United 2013
The preceding tie in 2013 was a first-round visit to little-known West Country outfit Shortwood United. Shown live on TV, the Vale triumphed 4-0 thanks to goals from Jennison Myrie-Williams (2 including a penalty), Chris Birchall and Chris Lines. Myrie-Williams is pictured.

Forest Green Rovers 2012
Forest Green were then still in the National League when Vale were drawn against them in the first round. In a tense affair, Vale triumphed 3-2 thanks to strikes from Ashley Vincent, Clayton McDonald (his only goal for the club) and Ben Williamson (pictured).
