Lewis Cass player profile
Port Vale FC initially signed versatile defender Lewis Cas on loan from Newcastle United in July 2021.
Cass had spent the previous season on loan at Hartlepool United. The 21-year-old defender spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Hartlepool United, joining the side in October and playing a key role in the Pools’ promotion to the Football League as he registered 35 appearances in all competitions.
Cass made his debut for the Valiants coming on as a substitute during the League Cup game against Sunderland in August. A popular player, mainly playing on the right of a back three, he scored his first goal for the club in a 5-1 FA Cup first round win over Accrington Stanley in November.
However, his spell at the club was ended through injury in late January and he returned to his parent club for treatment.
In the summer of 2022, Cass turned down a contract offer from Newcastle United in order to rejoin the Valiants on a permanent basis.
