Bright and clever – coach praises Port Vale striker
Two goal striker Mark Cullen was labelled “bright and clever” by Port Vale coach Dave Kevan after his display in the win over Crawley Town on Saturday.
With Tom Pope suspended, Cullen was selected ahead of rivals Theo Robinson and Devante Rodney to lead the Vale line. He responded with both goals in the 2-0 win.
Speaking after the match, Kevan commented: “It was the right place at the right time, and he probably could have had one earlier with a header in the first half.
“We know what Mark is about. He is bright and clever and brings people into the game. But he also has a knack of nicking a goal or two. There is good competition there. Mark is aware of that so he knows he has to be performing.”
