We take a look at a programme from the 1955-56 season featuring an FA Cup game between West Ham United and Port Vale.
About the game
This game was Vale’s first outing in the FA Cup since their heroics the previous season (which had seen them unluckily beaten in the semi-final). Stan Smith and Dickie Cunliffe were the scorers for the Valiants in front of a crowd of 20,264. The replay saw Vale triumph 3-1 thanks to goals from Smith, Cunliffe and Albert Leake in front of a crowd of 11,963.
