Skipper praises positive Port Vale fans
Stand-in captain Leon Legge has praised “positive” Port Vale supporters for creating a “different atmosphere” from last season.
Legge stood in for Tom Pope on Tuesday evening as Vale swept aside Forest Green Rovers and the tall defender has been delighted with the support from the fans.
The fans were great today, so positive compared to last season where there were a few moans and groans…
There were grumbles on the terraces last season due to discontent with events on and off the pitch but new ownership and a more attacking style of play has seen much more positivity from the sidelines.
Legge told the official Port Vale website: “It’s been a positive start, a little bit unlucky last couple of league games but we stayed switched on and made sure today was the day that we were going to get that first win.
“The fans were great today, so positive compared to last season where there were a few moans and groans, but this year a completely different atmosphere and I’ve got to give a shout out to them because they were great.
“It’s so good to play in an atmosphere like that, that’s why you play football, you want to play in front of an atmosphere like that week in week out.”
