After releasing Ricky Miller, Dan Turner, Danny Elliott and Dior Angus, the summer signings were brought in to enhance Port Vale’s firepower and they both made an immediate impact against the non-league opposition.
Former Blackpool and Luton forward Cullen tapped the ball home in the first-half and ex-Carlisle United striker Bennett headed home in the second forty five.
Port Vale manager John Askey took the opportunity to give almost all of his squad, which included four trialists, a run-out in front of a crowd of 1,689.
According to the local media, the four trialists were goalkeeper Jonny Maddison, right-back Shaun Cummings, winger Rhys Browne and forward Kwame Thomas.
The only sour note for Vale was an injury to winger Cristian Montano which saw him leave the pitch early. Luckily Vale are well-stocked on the wings with David Worrall, Ben Whitfield and Ryan Lloyd other options for Askey.
Vale will face a game against non-league Leek Town next before they put their wits against Burnley, Fleetwood and Bury in the summer’s other friendly games.
