No such bid: Smurthwaite denies Notts County bid
Smurthwaite denies Notts County bid: former Port Vale owner Norman Smurthwaite has denied a report in the Daily Mirror that he has made a bid for Notts County.
The Nottingham Post reports that after being contacted by the newspaper, Smurthwaite commented that he “has made no such bid.”
County are desperate for a new owner. The club are back in court on July 10th after being hit with a winding up petition over a £250,000 tax bill, which has reportedly increased to £800,000 in total.
If a takeover is not completed before the court hearing then administration, or even liquidation, is a distinct possibility.

It’s relevant because following his record at Port Vale, it’s surely the right thing to let Notts County fans know who they could be getting in charge of their club. After what happened at Port Vale would you want another club to suffer the same chaos and crisis?
