Former Port Vale owner Norman Smurthwaite has denied a report in the Daily Mirror that he has made a bid for Notts County.
The Nottingham Post reports that after being contacted by the newspaper, Smurthwaite commented that he “has made no such bid.”
County are desperate for a new owner. The club are back in court on July 10th after being hit with a winding up petition over a £250,000 tax bill, which has reportedly increased to £800,000 in total.
If a takeover is not completed before the court hearing then administration, or even liquidation, is a distinct possibility.
