Midfielder Manny Oyeleke has agreed a new contract with Port Vale, the club have confirmed.
A club statement said:
Port Vale are delighted to announce that midfielder Manny Oyeleke has signed a new two-year deal with the club, extending his stay at Vale Park to 2021.
After joining the Valiants from Aldershot last summer on a free transfer, it’s safe to say Manny slotted in extremely well into the side and proved influential in games.
On the occasions Vale were forced to play without Manny due to injury, only two wins were picked up out of a possible 14, with 10 lost during those games.
Just three goals were scored by the midfielder last season but all had great importance. His first goal for the club came against Northampton to double Vale’s lead and secure a very important three points on the day, before scoring a stunning last-minute goal away to Lincoln City on New Years Day to rescue a precious point.
His final goal of the season came in the big win at home against Yeovil in March, where he headed home from a corner the opening goal of the evening which lead to Vale winning 3-0 against the fellow relegation battlers.
Manny’s influence, strength and powerful runs through the midfield will be vital for the Vale next year, and manager John Askey is looking forward to seeing Manny in a Vale shirt again next season.
“It’s a big statement by the club to get Manny under contract and it shows that he sees something exciting is happening here which is great.
“For Manny to sign a two-year deal, it’s a step in the right direction for the club and that’s important if we want to progress. Since I arrived here he’s been a good player. He’s been injury-hit unfortunately but when he’s played we’ve always won more.
“He can defend, get forward, he’s a box to box midfielder. Manny signing on with the likes of Crookes, Worrall and Legge will be like a new signing so it’s really positive for the club.”
