Port Vale protests suspended to aid potential sale of club
Port Vale Supporters Club have announced that protests have been suspended in light of the news that Synectics Solutions have entered an exclusivity agreement with the football club.
The Supporters Club have led protests against owner Norman Smurthwaite in recent months.
An email from Supporters Club chairman Mark Porter stated:
You may have heard today that the owners of Synectics Solutions, Carol and Kevin Shanahan have entered into an exclusivity agreement with Port Vale. The proposed deal is for the club and the ground.
It has been agreed, whilst this process is in place, to suspend the protests in order to give any deal the best chance of succeeding. However, we are asking fans to maintain the boycott of the kiosks and to withhold season ticket money until any sale of the football club and Vale Park are completed.
I want to thank every person that has been involved in the protest and got behind the supporters’ club. In particular my thanks go to Black & Gold & the North London Valiants together with The Sentinel and BBC Radio Stoke for their support over the last few weeks.
The wider football family have also been very supportive including the Blackpool Supporters Trust who came to our last meeting to show solidarity.
The protest has been peaceful and we thank the fans for that. Please be assured the suspension is in place to help negotiations.
