Premier League clubs pay their agents millions of pounds every year for some of the best players. Find out just how much some of the teams spent last year.
When a Premier League football club wants to buy a new player for their squad, they need to go through an agent. This agent will negotiate on the player’s behalf and come to an agreement on what the final price should be. Of course, these agents get paid a lot of cash by both the players and the football clubs – but how much?
Here, we are going to look at how much some of the Premier League clubs paid agents in the past year. You’ll be shocked at just how much these people make!
If you were wondering how much Chelsea FC pay their agents, then you’ll be interested to find out that last year they managed to spend £26 million on agents fees alone. This could be due to the expensive players that they added to their squad which included Christian Pulisic who cost them £57.6 million on his transfer fee.
While this is a huge fee, it is important to note that there was a large increase in the fees spent by these clubs. While Chelsea FC might have spent £26 million this year, this is a lot more than previous years.
Playing an exhilarating game such as Football Studio at NetBet casino can cost you a pretty penny if your not keeping track of what your spending, but even then it wouldn’t even be comparable to the money spent on agent fees at Liverpool FC.
In 2018/19, Liverpool FC managed to rack up a bill of £43 million that was paid out to football agents for their players. This is the highest figure out of all of the Premier League clubs, and it is likely to be due to the costly players that Liverpool spent cash on this season. Goalkeeper Alisson cost Liverpool £66.8 million in July 2018 and so his agent would have also required a huge fee to be paid to his agent.
Manchester City was the team that spent the third highest amount on agents in the past year with a total of £24 million spent. This team did make some big purchases on Mahrez and Laporte who cost them £57 million. It is expected that a lot of the fees paid out to agents last year were due to these big purchases although there could also have been big fees for the players with the smaller transfer fees.
What About Everyone Else?
These aren’t the only teams to have spent a lot of cash on agents fees in the past year as you would expect. Manchester United spent almost £21 million and West Ham managed to rack up a total of £14 million. These are quite high figures so you can tell that agents don’t mess around.
The agents that work for Premier League players clearly get paid a lot of money to do their job. Whether they are worth the money or not is still to be decided but for now, they appear to be costing the Premier League teams millions of pounds every single year.
