Port Vale loanee wants game time and won’t rule out summer move to club
Matt Crookes says he will look at his options over the summer months after a successful spell at Vale Park.
I think at my age, 21, obviously now I am looking to cement myself in a first team, so game-time does play a big part…
Crookes is one of two loanees – the other being Aston Villa’s Mitch Clark – to establish himself in the Port Vale starting eleven.
Other January loan additions – such as Callum Whelan, Toby Edser and Kyle Howkins – have yet to make first-team starts, while Cardiff forward Mark Harris has been used sparingly. However, New Year addition Cookes has impressed and has now made eleven appearances.
The versatile left-sided defender is out of contract in the summer and he told the media: “My contract is up at the end of the year so, at the minute, I haven’t got longer there, but they might offer me something more so it is a case of seeing what Forest offer me first and then go from there.
“I am just focusing on my game at the minute and getting these appearances under my belt. Come the end of the season we will see what happens. Nothing is set in concrete yet so we will see.
“I think at my age, 21, obviously now I am looking to cement myself in a first team, so game-time does play a big part. But you have to consider a lot of things so it will be a case of sitting down and considering my options and seeing where we go from there.”
