Norman Smurthwaite claims unnamed Asian consortium interested in the club
Port Vale’s controversial owner Norman Smurthwaite says an Asian Consortium is interested in buying the club.
According to Smurthwaite, the group want to pay £2.8m for the football club and rent the stadium from him.
The local business made a public offer of £3.5m recently – for total control of both the football club and stadium – but that was rejected by Smurthwaite.
Smurthwaite purchased the club, in conjunction with businessman Paul Wildes, for a fee of £1.25m in 2012.
This weekend he said he would put the club into administration if a takeover deal was not agreed by the 5th May.
