Defender Dan Scarr opted to join Walsall this week but it may have been a different story had Vale followed up on their interest in 2017.
The 24 year-old was a stand-out performer for Stourbridge during the 2016-17 season when they drew with Wycombe Wanderers.
Scarr’s performance earned him a trial with West Brom and reported interest from the Valiants. However, rather than signing for then Vale, Scarr opted to join boyhood heroes Birmingham City.
Ironically, he was then sent on loan to former cup opponents Wycombe. He joined Walsall in January 2019.
