We take a step back to 1997 when two stunning goals from striker Tony Naylor gave Port Vale a 3-1 win over Sunderland.
Naylor’s second goal has often been described as the best goal ever seen at Vale Park as the striker starts from the half-way line with a clever back heel and cuts through the Sunderland defence to score with a curling effort.
The match took place on August 23rd 1997 in front of 8,290 at Vale Park and current Vale manager Neil Aspin also played in the Valiants defence.
