Reaction to Port Vale’s fans for diversity day exceeds expectations
The Supporters’ Club handed out ska style t-shirts at Vale Park at the game against Northampton Town to promote the Fans for Diversity campaign with an anti-racist message.
21 volunteers at turnstiles handed out free t-shirts to 300 fans at Vale Park this Saturday, with a simple “Love Port Vale, Hate Racism” slogan – inspired by The Specials’ famous Gangsters LP cover. The club supported the action with the players taking to the field in the t-shirts during their pre-match warm-up.
Supporters Club vice chairman Malcolm Hirst told OVF: “The day itself went way beyond my expectations. The Vale fans got fully behind the day and embraced the message of diversity, equality and inclusion.
“It was wonderful to have a very positive, good new story about Vale fans and the club itself. The reaction in the ground and on social media to the day was brilliant.”
